I’d say keep the hardware, the strap and maybe save a few pieces of leather if it seems of decent quality. You never know.

Sadly, the leather is thin and stiff and I wouldn’t even know what to do with leather that bad. I will keep the hardware, I guess.

The funny thing is, the bag looked so good in the pics and I had purchased a real Coach from the seller before so this fake bag was a big bummer.

The previous generation from you remembers it VERY well. That was the best cast SNL ever had. Don't forget Father Guido Sarducci, "Chisbooger Chisbooger..." The News For The Hard Of Hearing", "Jane, you ignorant slut", and dozens more.
(whispers) "Candygram"

SNL changed the whole Saturday night dating scene. My then-BF and I stayed home, ordered pizza and watched TV instead of going out. Within the space of just a few years, the Saturday night lineup included various combinations of SNL, Sha Na Na, the Weekend news magazine with Linda Ellerbee among others, and the bloody brilliant SCTV. The best of all possible worlds, and it was all free except for the pizza (and the occasional humor-enhancing chemicals) ;).
Yep. I remember it all, even Mary Hartman! The News for the Hard of Hearing is my absolute, all-time favorite! Garrett Morris was hysterical-they all were. Loved ShaNaNa, as well as our local tv Saturday night horror show, “Dr. Shock.” BTW, by “my generation,” I meant those 10 or so years older, too!

I loved SNL, it was the greatest thing on TV in the 70s. I especially loved Dan Akroyd and Jane Curtain doing the Point Counterpoint segment and the Coneheads, of course!

Item: Orange (Watermelon?) Pebbled Chicago Ellis Tote (33961, Vietnam, 2015)
Seller: Local Charity Gift Shop ($12.50)
Comments: I have seen 2 versions of this bag online with the same style number and some of them have the Horse & Carriage Logo and some have an oval medallion logo.

I didn't find it on the Wayback machine and I am wondering if it was a "department store exclusive" in the Chicago area? It would make sense because I live in the Chicago area! I saw an orange one llisted on ebay as "watermelon" colored?

Please give an opinion about authenticity and I'd appreciate information about the bag if you have any. Thanks in advance for your help!

I did a little more digging on the Wayback Machine and I found the Ellis Tote 33961 in the Fall 2014 Collection available in black, brown, and teal. This is the bag with the oval logo on the front and it sold for $298 from Coach.com, see below.

I am guessing that the re-release with the Horse & Carriage Logo came out for Spring/Summer 2015 because I find examples in bright colors like "ruby" and "watermelon" and a very pretty bright green; there is also a "denim" blue bag.

There are some comments online about buying these bright-colored Ellis totes at Dilliards, Macy's, etc. which is making me think it is was a slightly different version released as a "department store exclusive" but with the same style number and probably for a similar price; but I don't know where the "Chicago Ellis Tote" name came from?

Please let me know if you think I am on the right track with my assumptions or if I am totally off-base? Thanks!

P.S. Sorry for all the earlier deleted messages, my computer went a little goofy!

Any thoughts about this bag? Is it genuine and was it truly called the "Chicago Ellis Tote" and was it a department store exclusive? Is it the same bag as the original Ellis Tote except for the logo? Thanks!

Authenticity wise, the bag looks fine.

I have no idea about the history of the style.

Sorry, it's fake. The plant code is invalid for the 1996 year code in the serial number, and the 9145 style Legacy Studio Flap wasn't even introduced until late 1999, three and a half YEARS after the April 1996 date in the codes. That D6J- serial prefix Has been found in dozens of fakes and is never genuine when it's in a handbag. That J plant during 1996 was ONLY used by Coach for clothing items like leather or suede coats and jackets. Here's a genuine D6J- creed patch from a women's Beresford Suede Coat:

If it's a recent purchase I hope you can get your money back.

It is and I will. I thought that was the case. Thanks again.

Is there a listing from which you purchased the bag?
