Ok, I bought this without asking first. However, it was on an offer, so I haven't paid yet. I can't quite make out the codes below the creed but I am nursing a migraine so it's very possibly just me. The info in the title appears incorrect.

I've asked for clarification on the number. Meanwhile, how does it look?

Item: Orange (Watermelon?) Pebbled Chicago Ellis Tote (33961, Vietnam, 2015)
Seller: Local Charity Gift Shop ($12.50)
Comments: I have seen 2 versions of this bag online with the same style number and some of them have the Horse & Carriage Logo and some have an oval medallion logo.

I didn't find it on the Wayback machine and I am wondering if it was a "department store exclusive" in the Chicago area? It would make sense because I live in the Chicago area! I saw an orange one llisted on ebay as "watermelon" colored?

Please give an opinion about authenticity and I'd appreciate information about the bag if you have any. Thanks in advance for your help!

I did a little more digging on the Wayback Machine and I found the Ellis Tote 33961 in the Fall 2014 Collection available in black, brown, and teal. This is the bag with the oval logo on the front and it sold for $298 from Coach.com, see below.

I am guessing that the re-release with the Horse & Carriage Logo came out for Spring/Summer 2015 because I find examples in bright colors like "ruby" and "watermelon" and a very pretty bright green; there is also a "denim" blue bag.

There are some comments online about buying these bright-colored Ellis totes at Dilliards, Macy's, etc. which is making me think it is was a slightly different version released as a "department store exclusive" but with the same style number and probably for a similar price; but I don't know where the "Chicago Ellis Tote" name came from?

Please let me know if you think I am on the right track with my assumptions or if I am totally off-base? Thanks!

P.S. Sorry for all the earlier deleted messages, my computer went a little goofy!

I t's possible. The B plant concentrated on handbags with a few travel bags mixed in but the G plant at that time, early to mid 1996, was specifically making travel bags. It looks to me like they used the same "rigors of travel" creeds but had to use different serial stamps, one stamp for the special bags made for the 1996 Lexus co-promotion had an "L" right behind the style number to tie into the Lexus promo but the standard serial stamps of the time had no provision for any letters of the alphabet in that position, so there are 2 different serial stamps that both seem to me to be genuine, the Lexus-specific one for the G plant, and the slightly different one that may have been from either G or B, or maybe was passed from one to the other. Both seem to be genuine so it's only a problem of record-keeping and not authenticity. Examples below, the ones ending in L are the Lexus special bags:

Genuine Lexus creed and other details:

Other Lexus creed-serial combos:

A NON-Lexus Cabin Bag either from the same G plant or maybe the B plant.

and an 0599 Small Duffle Bag from the B plant

FAKE, Don't Pay.
The underscore under the "o" in "No" is too long, the "o" is too big, and the serial font isn't quite right. The way the base is attached to the rest of the bag looks wrong too.

No one outside of our generation (I’m 54) remembers Emily Litella or Roseanne Rosseannadanna. I’ve quoted both at work in various situations when appropriate (“It just goes to show ya, if it’s not one thing it’s another” and “Nevermind!”) and I’m met with blank stares, When I try to explain it to them (none over 40 years old) I’m met with blank stares or the requisite, “You’re so weird, Dr. P.” We lived for SNL (and tv in general) in those first years. I remember being 11 years old and sleeping over at a friends house. After their parents went to bed, we’d sneak to the tv and watch. 75% of the jokes went over our heads, but the other 25% were pure gold. Samurai baker comes to mind...

The previous generation from you remembers it VERY well. That was the best cast SNL ever had. Don't forget Father Guido Sarducci, "Chisbooger Chisbooger..." The News For The Hard Of Hearing", "Jane, you ignorant slut", and dozens more.
(whispers) "Candygram"

SNL changed the whole Saturday night dating scene. My then-BF and I stayed home, ordered pizza and watched TV instead of going out. Within the space of just a few years, the Saturday night lineup included various combinations of SNL, Sha Na Na, the Weekend news magazine with Linda Ellerbee among others, and the bloody brilliant SCTV. The best of all possible worlds, and it was all free except for the pizza (and the occasional humor-enhancing chemicals) ;).

Good evening Authenticators,

I need your opinion. I bought a purse that turned out to be fake. The Seller gave me a full refund. I’m going to trash the purse but I was wondering, should I keep the D-rings and turn lock for anything? Maybe for possible future repairs on my legit bags?

Thanks.

I’d say keep the hardware, the strap and maybe save a few pieces of leather if it seems of decent quality. You never know.
