As promised...

On Monday my account was reinstated but my listings still gone, on Tuesday I got email saying that they didn't forget my case, thanks for my patience, on Wednesday I got another email saying that my account should be all back to normal by now, apologies for the inconvenience, but my listings were still gone so I replied to them, saying that I won't stop till they are back and my record of "violations" gone.
Today I got another "very" apologetic email, saying my listings are back (they are), my violations gone as well, and their moderation team is looking at how to improve their system regarding removals.

They did the right thing so I thanked them, and suggested to include in their TOS that reporting out of spite or to get rid of competitors, should warrant the closing of accounts.

I want to also say thanks to all of you here that supported me and authenticated my items again, so I could prove their authenticity to PM, if they ruled against me. They didn't even ask for proof so I didn't send them, what makes me think they realized why my items were reported and had nothing to do with being real or fake.

Congratulations! :flowers:

According to the info that we've seen it's NOT 1960s, I don't think there were any tags or stampings that early except maybe the early version of the leather hangtag. I hope Whateve will correct me if I'm a bit off on the dates but early to mid 1970s is where I'd put it with the black metal tag.

I'm not sure why the seller is using "tan" in the title description.

I had inquired about the 'tan'. It was a typo that she couldn't correct because there was already a bid. She did address it in the text of the description.

I wondered if it would be from the 70's. I wish I had had the money then. Unfortunately if I told you what my starting salary as a teacher was you'd choke and realize that there was no Coach in my life then.

I lighted the creed but I still can't read the prefix.

Neither can I. It's possible that it's "J8B-" but that's a shot in the dark. It doesn't look like J8P- which is good.

Here's a genuine J8B- for comparison:

ETA - Maybe it's J6B-, a briefcase from 1998 would have a different turnlock. Let me see if I can find one.

EATA - A 6 year code works too, same font. But that STILL leaves the problem with the turnlock.

In my opinion, teachers are still very much underpaid in the US. The situation
is better in Canada, I think.

Have a couple to check on, these are local and I don't have a link to share.

First is a briefbag that reminds me of a Willis family member and the second is a court bag. Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.

The court is authentic. The briefcase is probably okay but I can't read the creed.

HANG ON, there may be a problem.

The padding above the turnlock in the briefcase photo has a curved bottom that follows the shape of the turnlock, just like a genuine Willis. But the 5266 Beekman shouldn't have that shape. There are 2 different turnlock tab designs depending on the year and this doesn't match either one.

An Ebay Search for Coach (Beekman,5266) doesn't turn up ANY with a Willis-style curved bottom turnlock leather tab.

I think it MAY be fake.

Here's the photo of the turnlock on the briefcase being questioned:

It's authentic and in this rare case, Entrupy got it right. (They don't do that often!)
Interestingly, that same bag was questions on ebay's fashion board a couple of days ago. The bean bag creed is explained in that post.
Thanks so much for the info. I thought it was a style of bag but apparently the creed made it into a number of production lines. Do you have any idea what the style is?

She'd updated with her correction on January 24. It's in the body of the description:

On Jan-24-20 at 06:10:11 PST, seller added the following information:

The title states Navy Blue Tan leather. The bag is navy blue.. NO tan.

I think there's a bigger problem than the turnlock.

The bag in question has just 2 long pen (?) pockets on the other (non-creed) pocket:

I believe there are supposed to be 3 vertical pockets:

Goodwill find
My mother found this in one of the heavily discounted bins and only paid 35 cents for it. She's not sure if it's authentic and was wanting me to find out for her. Thanks so much!

Apparently that also depends on the year, it looks like that was another change that happened in 1996.

L5C-5266, 1995 and before, TWO pen slots

"Fascinating", to quote Mr. Spock.

Ugh! Although I have to say that the year doesn't look like 1995 or earlier on that creed!

@zooba - Is there any way to get a better creed photo?

Enlarged serial number:

No, in that pic it looks like an 8. But if it was, the old-style oval turnlock by itself would be almost enough proof, assuming one of the owners hadn't replaced it. That's always the tricky bit with turnlocks. I'd like to see a better photo of the entire creed and serial, with the pocket pulled out if it can be, laid as flat as possible to avoid glare and foreshortening, and some light powder on the serial number to highlight the prefix.
