FWIW, being an adult during the time that these bags were made, I have a first-hand account and have to dispute what this seller wrote about fakes. Wrong and wrong! Not only were fakes around at that time, almost every style was faked. In the late 80s & 90s, pre-internet, in our small S. Louisiana town, my then sister-in-law worked in an office with 20+ women. One woman would come in with a few catalogs to circulate around the office and for people to take home. She would take the orders, collect the money and bring it to man in Baton Rouge. Several weeks later, the goods would arrive. Guess what was in that catalog? Replica Coach and D&B bags in all the styles we knew of in beautiful leather! I remember my SIL and I comparing the fake Coach bag she ordered with the authentic one she owned and neither of us could tell the difference! So, they absolutely were making fakes in those styles back then and they were “what they are now,” whether she meant that they were either easily accessible or of excellent quality. Anyone else remember these catalogs? I’m curious...

No, I never saw those. We just had guys stopping by our office selling fake Benetton t-shirts out of the trunks of their cars.

I wonder if the fake bags were made in Mexico? They had a strong counterfeiting industry at one time, and Baton Rouge would be close enough for easy shipping.

Hello dear authenticators!
Please take a look at this bag when you can.
Item: Vintage Coach red crossbody bag
Listing number: 78480195
Seller: Goodwill Industries of greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio
Link: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/78480195
Comments: What is the actual name of this bag?
Thank you!!!

It might be a 9635 Convertible Clutch but I can't be sure since there's nothing in the description or photos about what pockets it has and there's no clear photo of the bottom panel.

I'm seeing seams in the bottom panel on both sides and in the center. It looks like a 9635 Convertible Clutch to me.

Could be from Mexico, but for some reason Korea came to mind. That was a long time ago!

Hello!
If you could authenticate these two, it would be much appreciated!
(btw I'm new to vintage coach bags and I've enjoyed reading/learning by reading this thread as well as the guides that were put together!)

  • Item: Lot of 2 Vintage Coach Leather Handbags - Black Willis Station 5130 & Brown 9020
  • Listing number:123946081726
  • Comments: I'm not sure about the station bag - creed looks a bit weird to me maybe because the first 3 digits are not aligned?

No red flags on first but we need to see more than just a creed picture.

Second (made in Korea) is fake.
I figured made in korea was fake so I left it.

Any idea what the name of the first. Here are more pics. Thanks

I have one more (coach willis) I posted about over the weekend. Purchased it on ebay and now that I have it Im having serious doubts! I have better pictures than the seller provided. Mainly the leather on this bag feels & looks completely off! Almost plastic like (just stiff). Nothing like that soothe glove tan leather coach is known for.

I posted it next to one I purchased with badly damaged leather(just cause I wanted the extra straps)
