Comments: Could you ladies please authenticate this bag? Thank you!

If you haven't already bid, PLEASE DON'T.

The poor quality creed photo is a problem, as are the other photos that don't give us useable photos of red flag areas like the back of the turnlock or the full length plus the ends of the inside pockets. But the serial number font shows a problem.

It almost looks like there are some faint "overstamping" lines or marks above and below a few of the serial number digits but they don't seem like they're exactly what they should be. But the line under the"o" in "No" is double the length of what I have in my files for genuine serials with the same prefix.

Please give me a few minutes to take and post photos.

ETA - first, Questionable bag from Maisy612, notice the long underscore under "No":
1998_C-plant-QUEST-maisy612-A8C-9870-underline-b.jpg

and a genuine A8C-
1998_c-plant-9098-b.JPG

I'd want to see better photos of other details so please don't report, but I can't recommend buying that bag.

More opinions are welcome.

I haven't bid at all. I really fear buying vintage and getting duped. Thanks so much for your valuable imput!

My first inclination when I looked at the listing was that the bag looked good although I do see the difference between the listing in question and the comp posted.

I'll defer to Hyacinth's opinion on the bag itself although I did find this listing with (what looks to me) the same underscore. (I think it's an extra indentation/impression of stamping machine rather than a longer underscore.)

A8C-9098 longer underscore?.png

I also wanted to point out that the long strap is missing.

Comments- Asked for a clearer picture of the creed and received it quickly.... little expensive for me but would be interested in how old and style name if authentic.
Thank you.

Thank you.

It's a genuine Coach Legacy Small Hobo made in 2000.

ETA - It's the style at the upper right in this catalog photo. You'll probably have to click on the thumbnail several times to get the photo to open completely.

Comment: the color caught my attention but the serial number looks like it might a fake. Font looks unusual for plant M. The bright red zipper is also raising a red flag.

Definitely fake. The zipper color is a red flag but the font isn't like anything else I've seen for the M or any other plant. The "No" is illegible, and the M plant or at least the M code seems to have been discontinued permanently after February 1998.

Thank you! Specially for the extra information about the time frame when it was discontinued. If I had time to read this whole thread again for those little valuable information I'd come up with a pop quiz for the collectors. ;):smartass:
