It's a genuine Monterey Hobo from the Lightweight line (which explains the difference in the leather), made in the early 1990s. The style number was 4027.

WeHello everyone - long time no see. I am very excited......Chelsea Champlain whose artwork was used for the "Tattoo" items for Coach, in what, 2017??, lives in my town! I have reached out to her to commission a custom piece. Before you say, wrong thread......I have a Pony Express (well i have 2 actually) that i want her to paint. I know i know.......I am not crazy (well maybe a little, but not for wanting my Pony Express painted!!), this particular PE was made in the USA, not NYC. The serial number is not an A...did Coach produce the PE outside of the NYC factory? Did I get duped and buy a fake? I will post pictures as soon as I get home....sorry for not having them right now.....needed to ask my question before i forgot!

I do't see any problems. Coach often DID make occasional re-releases of older styles during the late 1980s and 1990s. This looks like it's from the late 1980s remake.

Welcome to TPF. Because you're a new member, I'll be gentle.

It's not necessary to repost within a few minutes of your previous post.
We volunteer our time and knowledge and do this on our own time. We get NO compensation so time spent here is between jobs, family, obligations, etc. and we aren't always online.

ALthough other authenticators do sometimes comment on Poshmark listings, I am one who doesn't (generally) authenticate, support or recommend the site. They don't care about being honest, they don't remove listings of counterfeit items that are reported, they ban members who let sellers know that a listing is fake and they have a "team" of "experts" who give buyers of fakes a hard time about getting refunds because their "experts" don't believe an item is fake. (I am one who has been banned because I was tagged and asked to authenticate some listings. The dishonest sellers who knew they had fakes reported me and instead of banning the fake-sellers, they banned me!)

Phew! Sorry for the rant.

Since you already have the bag and have to know if it's genuine, I'll comment but I'll also issue a warning about the seller kermiesgirl.

The bag you received is authentic, but kermiesgirl has this active listing of a fake Coach wallet:

and she did sell this fake:

I'm pretty sure this is fake too (sold):

Thank you so much for your time! I apologize for the double post. I was actually trying to edit the first and I accidentally posted that twice trying to add the pictures. I was dealing with my 2 year old and trying to get ready for work at the same time lol .

I truly appreciate your time and helping me out with all of this. I’ve started to get worried since I saw this seller with the exact same style of bag and the exact same serial number listed for sale on Poshmark. I then saw another seller with this exact same type of bag and the exact same serial number which I thought was very unlikely to have with such a Vintage bag. All of the other postings from sellers online for this style of bag all had creeds with different serial numbers and they were made in the United States so I got worried.

Since you're new (and welcome to tPF!) rather than just answering your question I'm going to point you in the direction of a set of six Salearea Coach guides that will give you a lot of information about things like serial numbers, Coach history, and especially warnings about all the misinformation you'll find in the vast majority of online "authenticity guides" and what NOT to believe in them. It's a very long list.

Based on your questions about duplicate serial numbers you should especially pay attention to the Salearea Guide on that subject. Bags up to a certain point in time each had their own unique numbers, bags after that point in time could have hundreds or even thousands with exactly the same number. The Guides will explain that in detail. They ARE accurate and they are up to date, as much as was possible.

The thread is Stickied at the top of every Coach Shopping index page and the background posts right before the Guides should probably be read too:

Authentic, from 2007.

It's a soho kisslock leather framed wristlet, style 40573. (I'm assuming it's about 6.5" wide.) It looks like it's missing the wrist strap and hang tag.

Thank you. Got them both and then found another one, argh! May post it here later and consider coming back for it. I may have an addiction.
