Hello lovely authenticators... It's been a while (for me)! But I stopped by Savers over the weekend because 1) they were right next to the TJ Maxx I was browsing, and 2) it was national thrift store day so I wanted to take advantage of the $0.99 t-shirts. But in doing so I found this adorable bag and snapped it up - I was 95% confident in authenticity because I've seen this exact bag before here and in other vintage Coach threads, but definitely want to ask the experts for peace of mind

All the Coach bags (authentic and non-, and even the old signature ones that were beat) were marked between $20-$30, and this little gem was $4.99, perhaps because the creed stamp was not visible in the main compartment and the hangtag was tucked inside with the strap. It's in excellent condition, and I got 20% off for donating a couple of clothing bags from my trunk so it was only $3.99!

ANYWAY, I believe it is a Scooter bag #9893, but please let me know of any red flags. Thanks so much in advance!
  • Stamp/style #L4D-9893

Authentic Scooter bag.

Don't you love when they don't recognize the good ones?

ETA: I also found a lovely scooter bag recently. Evidently they only check the main compartment for the creed (or markings) and didn't see it in the pocket.

Thanks, @BeenBurned! I do love it - but it's getting harder these days since the stores and ebay sellers are getting more knowledgeable about name brands. But this location was amusing because they had obvious fakes behind the counter/glass case and you had to request them... I was thinking I wouldn't even want those fakes for free, lol!

Congrats on your Scooter bag! I feel like it's a perfect size for just a phone and a small wallet, lip balm, compact, and keys! Was yours black as well, or a different color?

Flap Bag 1.jpg Flap Bag 1.jpg Flap Bag 2.jpg Hello,

I purchased this bag from Poshmark (I know, I should ask before purchasing). The photo of the creed is difficult to see (The imprint is fading). It is model 4115. I believe this the Whitney shoulder bag made in 1996. Please confirm

Normally, I skip authentication requests for Poshmark listing and recommend against them when the same items can be found elsewhere but I'll comment since it appears you've already received it.

The bag is fine and you're correct. It's a Whitney from 1996.

(In the future, refer to post 1, page 1 for the posting format and info we need. Even if purchased, we want to know seller's ID and see listings for any history.)

Hello ladies I am new here and just got these bags can anyone tell me if they are real or not please

Got it. Purchasing from Poshmark is so inconsistent. I love the old Coach bags and lately have been purchasing for rehab purposes (my new hobby). This bag required more work than was disclosed. I am still working on it. Thank you as always. I have learned so much from reading posts on this forum.

Thanks!! I’ll stick to buying my purses from real stores and leave the thrifting alone. Ah well. I’m not upset over it.
I'm going to barge in and stop you right there -- do NOT stop hunting down possible Coach bargains at thrift stores if you enjoy doing so! That is where I have found 80% of my vintage finds (including one just yesterday). I've been doing it for nearly twenty years now and have gotten lucky with upwards of 19 genuine finds over the years. And this was primarily before I ever even knew about this site and the great service the authenticators provide here.

My only recommendation would be to take photos in the store when you find one, submit an authentication request to this forum while you're still in the store if possible, and either snap it up with the expectation of returning it if it's deemed fake, or sneak it back amongst the bags with the intention of coming back to get it if it's authenticated. When I've had major questions about the authenticity of a bag, I'll search google images for "coach [last four or five digits of creed]" to see what pops up. And if you watch this forum for a few months you'll start to pick up on some of the warning signs to watch for, plus there are guides that @Hyacinth strongly recommends reviewing to give you a leg up when it comes to some of the more obvious signs, like misspellings in the creed which is always a red flag. I've been watching these forums for a few months now and am still learning every day -- and submitting when I'm not sure about a bag, like the Hippie Flap I did yesterday.

Hi, and hope everyone’s great! It’s been a little while since I’ve been here, and I hope you’re all having a wonderful summer.

When you get a chance, I’d appreciate if you could please authenticate this.

Looks like the regular “Plaza Bag,” style number 9860?
(Rather than the “Plaza Bag Large.”)

Thanks so much!!

Also, I'm hoping that I could please request a second authentication.
If so, I'd really appreciate it.
