This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

Thank you and be safe!

Thank you for the fast response and appreciate the added information. So glad to learn it's authentic and just 'special'. I was searching my usual google, pinterest, ebay, tpf - obviously using the wrong keyword 'fake coach bean bag creed'; and focusing on finding a bean bag creed picture like the new bag I received - skimming through links fast to glean some info to ask for authentication. I'll be less rushed next time!

START your searches at tPF, not those other sites. Where do you think you'll get better, more accurate information? And don't depend just on photos, the information on Bean Bag creeds can't be explained in pictures. You're posting on the best site probably on the planet for accurate information, take advantage of it, but make sure the information is correct and current. And don't try to do your own authentications.

The color is really off on these, it's a lighter navy than photographed. This is another "gifted to me" floating around in the closet, and I'd like to list it without worrying that I'm passing on a fake.

No I can't. Thankfully it was given to me and I didn't purchase it. I was told that it is old and that early Coach items did not have an id number and some had the three coach logos on the interior.
Nothing signature is old enough to not have a creed number.

This one looks good! It's an authentic soft legacy flap made in 2005.

Actually Coach only started adding the numbers to them in the 1970's. Prior to that there were no numbers, their stitching wasn't as meticulous, some items had no fabric lining and some even had their logo on the inside fabric lining. That's why I was questioning this duffle.

Thank you so much for your help.

Was there supposed to be a reply to Whateve's last post?. When replying to someone using the Quote button, please be sure that your reply is outside the last [/QUOTE] in the other person's post. Posting here can be a little confusing until you get the hang of it.

Unfortunately whoever gave it to you gave you a bad fake. There's nothing on that item that is anything like what Coach would have done, no matter when it was made. All the details are wrong. Please destroy it or use it until it falls apart and make sure it doesn't get back into circulation.

Items made of signature fabric weren't made until the 2000s. The larger Cs, like on your item, came later than the small Cs.

Items made before the mid 70s had no numbers at all. Earlier items had no creeds. Signature fabric didn't exist.

Therefore, anything made with signature fabric isn't vintage and isn't too old to not have a number. Smaller signature items may have a creed without a number, but your item was large, so should have had a number. The lack of a number isn't the only thing making that bag fake.
