Thank you and be safe!

That bag looks weird. What is all that white stuff in the seams and around the strap attachments?

Some kind of cleaner? Saddle soap that wasn't cleaned off well? Anyone interested in it really needs to ask the seller about what products were used on it. And it looks like the pictures are much too brightly lit or the images are overprocessed.

I don't trust ORLEANH (on ebay), DREAMLINER2008 (on ebay) or DREAMLINER (on Bonanza). Although they show different item locations, they are all the same person.

This is ORLEANH's profile pic on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/usr/orleanh?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

Same profile pic on Bonanza for DREAMLINER:

And although a different picture for DREAMLINER2008, it's the same person:

http://www.ebay.com/usr/dreamliner2008

It looks like there's another ebay ID.

Even worse than it seemed at first! I don't know why people do what they do, but reminds me why I've been slower to buy bags on ebay these days :(

Thank you all!

This was my first Coach Sonoma purchase on Ebay.
After reading the forum I'm thinking it's a fake - could someone please verify?

Serial is J6D-4316, which I now understand may be bad news.
# matches Large Hobo Sonoma, but says it's made of glove-tanned leather. (?)
Also check out strap.

This purchase was a major learning experience, but am happy to now have Purse Forum as a resource.
Help appreciated, thanks!

That creed statement is actually the same one we've seen in other bags in that style which we feel are genuine. The problem with yours is the serial number. Not only is the serial font wrong for that plant and date, but that style Sonoma Large Hobo wasn't officially introduced until the Holiday 1997 catalog, which is a year after the date code in the serial number (it may have actually been released a few months earlier, but probably not a whole year before). In fact the others in my files both show date codes for November 1997, not September 1996.

Below is a J6D- serial prefix from a genuine bag, notice the differences in the shapes of the numbers, the underline under the "o" in "No", the shape of the N, etc. The entire creed is also crooked. The condition of the strap isn't good either. Neither your pics nor the seller's shows the brass Coach zipper pull on the top zip clearly but it looks a bit "off" too.

Please use the format requested in post number One in this thread. If the bag is currently for sale on a website, we need the URL of the listing.

If those are your photos, we need measurements of the bag and a large readable photo of the creed and serial number. There aren't enough details in the photos you posted to help us authenticate. And if you own it, please stuff the bag with a small towel or t-shirt to show the actual shape and include a photo of one of the sides showing the strap attachment.

Attached is the zipper pull for your records.

Unfortunately it's too late to return this bag! Is disappointing that it's not a Coach, but it wasn't a major expense and I will get some use out of it. And I've learned a lot. Should I remove the creed from the bag so that this problem doesn't mistakenly get passed onto someone else?

Thank you so much!

I'm so sorry for not following the format. I don't have the measurements, but will get them tonight once I am back home. I am attaching the original ebay posting. Seller is bootsbeltsandbags. I am also attaching four more pictures. Thanks in advance for your help.

The zipper pull is definitely fake, the real one from that exact style bag is shown below. The font is noticeably different

Removing the creed is a very good idea, please also remove all the zipper pulls if and when you decide to dispose of the bag. Fakes with counterfeit trademarks should never be passed on in any way.

Thanks. And no need for measurements, they're in the seller's listing. That's just one of the many reasons why we need to see the original auction or sale listing if that's how the bag was purchased.

It's a genuine Madison Satchel Spectator, style number 6765 and made around 1990-91. However, it's NOT a Bonnie Cashin style

Thanks for the visual reference of the correct pull, now the difference seems so obvious.

I will remove the creed and pull.

Thanks for your help!
