Can somebody authenticate this vintage sutton cross body? Bought it at goodwill for $6 but the creed on the inside is unevenly stamped and you cannot read most of it.
Thanks for the help

So after I message her and tell her I won't purchase without a photo of the creed, and thanked her for her time, she then agrees to post a photo of it later when she got home. And as I suspected, there is a D in front of the 9P! I don't know how she didn't see it....It's a Costa Rica bag, which I had a feeling it was! Ugh. I don't need two black bags, and I already bought the Sheridan- which was my first choice.
Did you happen to let her know that after her original insistence that there was no other letter in the serial number and refusal to take a picture, that it cost her a sale?

Sheesh!

Comment: Name, date, etc. please. Any other info greatly appreciated. Thank you!
It's an authentic soft satchel, large (I think), 4060, from the Lightweights collection. It may have been made at the end of 1987, since the style was available then, but it has a US creed which is generally associated with starting around 1989. Color was called wine.

Both look good.

Hello all--I am shopping for a medium sized bag and found these 3 Whitneys and one (I think) Soho Rivington on eBay. Will you take a look and tell me what you think? Thanks! Any other info you can give me about the bags would be helpful.

Please help me determine if this is authentic. I believe it is but the creed has no number and there is no tag with a number inside. If you know the name of this bag too, please tell me. Thank you

I honestly haven't even responded because I was so annoyed how the tone changed once I told her I wouldn't purchase without it. And truly, the D is blatantly obvious, not faded or less imprinted in the leather. How she didn't see it is beyond me.

I'm responding to BeenBurned's question, on my phone...not sure if it pulled her original response to me like I clicked on. The app has been acting strange for me lately....

it looks good. Swingpacks of this era often didn't have creeds or if they had creeds, didn't have numbers. This was made before they used the little tags with numbers. I'm sorry I don't know the name, but it was probably called a swingpack.

The creed is virtually unreadable. Is it possible that years of wear have caused it to fade?
It might, but that usually isn't the case. I've had bags much older than that with very readable creeds. Can you feel it? Sometimes you can rub eye shadow over it to highlight the numbers. I also have trouble seeing it because of the glare of the picture and the bend of the leather.
