Item: Hamptons Herringbone Hobo (Style number 1407, made in 2004)
Seller: Goodwill ($7)
Dimensions: 12" x 10" x 2.5 in

Comments: When I saw this bag my first thought was "Soho" but then I noticed the square buckle and decided "not Soho"!

So I searched the Wayback machine and found a very similar-looking Hamptons Leather Hobo that was sold in Feb 2004 for $298, see the screenshot below; but I couldn't find this specific style number or a wool Hamptons bag with a pink heart hangtag.

Please give me your opinion on authenticity and if you know the actual name and the approximate date of release I would be very grateful for that information, thank you!

I think that it is very cute and well-made bag in black, white and red and with touches of black patent trim and that sweet little heart handtag!

Comment: I can't make out the year code. It looks like a zero. The creed has the old "scars, scratches, veins" wording and "Made in the United States" at the bottom. When was that wording and format phased out at the D plant?

I can;t read the year code at all, but it could have been made at least by March 1995. The old style creed was phased out of the D plant by April. The creed and serial number look good.

The metal red Heart charm was added by the owner. It's some kind of Hamptons Herringbone Hobo style. The year code 2004 is the year of release.

Well that explains why I can't find a Hamptons bag with a heart charm, thanks!

Do you happen to know if the heart charm was standard on a different bag, or was it a special purchase? Or maybe it came off of another fob?

Thanks!

It came on something else. There was a heart keychain. It really looks like the bottom charm. I don't have any pictures of a purse or wristlet with the heart. There was a wristlet with a similar star so there might have been one on a wristlet.1602 multi heart charm key fob red enamel metal 2004.PNG

Item: Hamilton Brief E4F-5358
Purchased at local consignment store at a price worth the risk. Looks great but something feels off and I can't let it go. Maybe it's the lack of a turnlock that gives me doubt. Thanks in advance!

In my opinion, it is fake. The font doesn't match creeds from the same time period. I can't tell in your picture, but I think the front plate looks off. The strap is fake. I wonder if the outlet stamp is there because Coach accepted a fake as a return and resold it.

The strap and lock actually look ok and match the other ones in that small cluster of styles . The serial number font isn't right, styles 5356, 57 and 58 are very similar and there may have been some confusion, but in my very small set of photos they all have the same old-fashioned Times New Roman-type font in the serial number. It's possible that they were using a temporary stamp in the questionable case since the month code is 3 months earlier than the examples in my files.

Here are thumbnails of the one in my files - style 5358, Hamilton Portfolio

It MIGHT be OK. I wouldn't buy it but I wouldn't report it either.
