Sorry. It was not my intention to disrespect the service you provide. I greatly appreciate the advice given. I recently had my eBay account restricted because I posted a Coach purse that was supposedly authenticated by the website I bought it from. eBay informed me my bag was a fake and that all bags must be authenticated before posting. My intention is to make sure the bags I sell are authentic. Do you have any guidance on obtaining authentication that would be verifiable to a platform like eBay? I greatly appreciate your experience and passion for what you do.

I'm not sure if you're referring to some authentication service or not since the name has been blocked, but we've found many MANY times that most so-called "professional" services are incapable of accurately authenticating Coach products. If you think the experts here, most of whom have been doing this on at least 2 major websites for 10, 12 or more years, are less capable of authenticating an unknown item with no other identical bags for comparison than someone at some service whose "authenticating" involves nothing more strenuous than checking to see if they can find another one with the same serial number, just say so and we can save our time and energy and give it to the members who have learned over the last 10 or twelve years of doing THOUSANDS of Coach authentications to trust our judgement, that's your decision. And your money.

If that's NOT what you're implying, my apologies.

RANT OVER.

What ytou went through is a prime example of WHY we offer our expertise in figuring out if something is authentic (and I can even make a guess at which seller was involved but won't mention their name here since it's about the umpteenth time we've seen that happen.) What a lot of people don't realize is that even the professional companies who may have a strong reputation with one or two name brands are totally incapable of authenticating some other brands. It takes more than a list of "valid" serial numbers (which DOESN'T mean "genuine!" serial numbers) to prove something's genuine, and some very big-name authenticators don't even bother doing that.

If we're not sure, we ask for more opinions. And if that still doesn't answer the question, we say so. Going just from memory, in the dozen or so years we've been doing this at the Coach forum ("we" being the regular forum-approved authenticators with "authenticator" under their names) I doubt if any of us has made much more than half a dozen mistakes in Coach authentications. Out of a guesstimated average of maybe 7,000 authentications each, that's not a bad average, much better than the "pros". And we're free and usually a lot faster.

Thank you for your response and guidance. I have been selling leather messenger bags on eBay and Poshmark since the beginning of the year, and just recently got into these larger Coach messenger bags. I want to provide buyers with authentic products at a fair price and need a forum where I can receive feedback before I list them. Do you suggest other platforms besides eBay to sell Coach bags? eBay told me that if I list another bag that they deem fake they will suspend my account, they told me that it does not matter if I had this site verify it or the so called "professional" (pay for authentication) companies verify it. Seems too risky for me to sell on eBay unless I bought the bag straight from Coach. Your thoughts.

I'll let other members here recommend other venues. One venue we don't recommend buying from is Poshmark, because of their attitude toward fakes. Someone who BUYS a fake from PM can have a major headache just getting their money back. And PM does nothing about removing reported fakes from their site regardless how how much solid evidence they're presented with.

More opinions, anyone?

Had you come here prior to purchasing, I would have recommended finding a seller who does her own work, takes her own pictures, includes enough pictures (of the actual item) to authenticate it and one who writes her own descriptions.

In cstu_us_9iuv6a2's listings, every picture appears to be stolen from another (Japanese?) website, her description is copied too and the pictures shown in her listing aren't pictures of the bag you've received.

Additionally, your 2 pictures aren't adequate to authenticate the bag you got.

Please read post 1, page 1 for what's needed as far as pictures.

As for the style being faked, YES, it is and in fact, another member posted several days ago and has never returned with the additional pictures I requested. (I do suspect her bag is fake.) Whether this post shows the identical style or not, I'm not sure but I want to give an example of how scary the possible fakes are.

I’ve learned to put the photos into the body directly. I hope this is better. Once again, I’m sorry for the mixup earlier. I thought i would be fancy and give you some scrolling photos.

It was very cloudy and rainy but i was able to get some good photos. Here are 27 detailed photos. Please let me know if you need any more. :) thank you again for all your help! It’s very much appreciated.

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and thought that rhus would be the right place to ask for help. Can someone please authenticate this wristlet. It's from the coach poppy collection. Its the coach poppy pop c pattern. Someone I know locally has a hufe collection of coach poppy. And Everytime I tey to look this sthle up I can never find this creed number is #43966

I'm having problems finding that exact style - is it actually a wristlet, with a strap that has a clip on one end that can be attached at either end? There's such a jumble of items in the photo that I can't tell if it even has a strap at all.. And that top zipper that wraps part-way around the upper right corner is unusual to say the least, I can't find a similar detail on any Poppy or Pop C wristlet, wallet OR pouch currently listed on Ebay. I'm not sure if the price tag belongs to that item either since I can't see where or how it's attached.

One photo isn't enough to authenticate. We need pics of the front and back and with the main compartment unzipped to show the inside details. If there are straps or clips or rings sewn onto the ends of it we need pics of those too, and also pics of the complete inside of the price tag if it's actually attached to that item. Post Number One in this thread explains the kinds of photos we need to see.

I had a similar Poppy wallet/wristlet in another colorway. Unfortunately, it was a long time ago before I was authenticating and didn't save the style number. I agree that it is very confusing with all the other similar stuff in the picture, and we need more pictures.

I also had one but mine didn't have a tag so I don't know the style number either.

I don't see anything indicating that the poppy wallet/wristlet isn't authentic. It looks good to me.

It SEEMS ok, but I can't find exactly the same bag for comparison. There's a version in suede that has the same details but the one being questioned has one extra vertical brass ring or attachment on each end between the two brass D-rings. The creed on the suede one also has gold-stamped lettering where this one's creed has the same script letters but without the gold but the serial number font is very different. They're from 2 different plants and almost a year apart in dates, which makes a direct creed comparison harder. The script details of the creed statement itself seem the same. I'm not sure if the bags are the same size either.

Here's the comp -

https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-LEGA...772915?hash=item1cba9a8473:g:LaYAAOSwNSxVUuPR

Based on the suede version, the style name would probably be something like "Legacy Leather (Medium?) Duffle". The Wayback isn't much help. (There's also a genuine Croc version but we're talking Russian oligarch-level prices so we can safely ignore that one).
MORE OPINIONS ARE WELCOME.

Thank you. I will take more pictures and submit it to ******************.

RANT OVER.
I was very late last night in seeing this discussion and spent considerable time (as had @Hyacinth) in trying to find another and was unsuccessful. That in and of itself is unusual, especially when the item is just 10 years old. And to not find another with the same font and format just adds to my questions.

Before commenting, I think I know what happened regarding the asterisks when @Walter Dunkerley mentioned having it authenticated. He's not the one who did that "redaction" but rather, it's the forum software that has prevented the company's name from being both advertised as well as possibly besmirched if a mistake is alleged.

With all that said, I can't authenticate that bag either. I've looked at dozens of pieces of luggage, duffels and bags, also finding several other fakes, some fairly good! But I was unable to find another with the same creed/font/style of the bag in question.

But the main thing that bothers me about this bag (in question) is that aside from the differences in the imprinted vs. gold creed text and in the serial font, there are differences in the text that are worthy of discussion.
1. The space between "leather" and "It's" is much smaller on the bag in question than on the other.
2. Space between "commitment" and "to" is smaller on the bag in question than on the other.
3. Every dot over the "i" is higher than it is on the comp.

First picture shows the comps, second picture depicts some of the differences I'm seeing.

You are correct. The bag is fake, should never have been sold and if you can, you should demand a refund. Goodwill is bound by all federal laws and charity or not, is not allowed to sell fakes.
