What you've found is exactly why we ask for seller IDs as well as recommend searching posts (or googling) seller IDs. I don't recommend the seller either.

In this case, Whateve has confirmed that that particular bag is fine. The problem with GutsyGirls is that she's a mixer and although she knows she's not expert in recognizing fakes (as evidenced by the number of fakes she's had removed as well as having been prohibited from listing Coach on ebay), she still makes no attempt to verify her items.

In fact, this fake was sold to an unwitting buyer on April 10:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/605144287/coachcoach-bag-black-coach-coach-bag?show_sold_out_detail=1

And someone will probably buy this fake at nearly $100:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/618297053/spring-savings-coach-bagsbonnie-cashin?ref=shop_home_feat_3

I'm sure there are other fakes mixed in.
Thank you guys for your help, I think I'm going to have to open a case either way, the bag still hasn't shipped, and she still hasn't responded to my message. So boo on me lol.

This is a "Puzzlement".

Vintage COACH Penny Pocket 9755 Tan Brown Leather Purse Crossbody Clutch Bag
seller - barbarcampo0
seller location - Katy, TX
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-CO...193181?hash=item214139459d:g:32wAAOSwTXRbCcgt

Seller's listings are a MESS, many with incorrect descriptions especially of colors. Repeat offender with multiple sold fakes.

The bag looks like a late 1980s Pocket Purse 9755. Listed measurements are 9.5 x 6.5 x 2 inches The creed and serial look genuine although the creed is "puffy" but the bag has a zipped inside pocket instead of an open one, and although the genuine 9755 had NO seam on the bottom panel or on the corners, this one has THREE. Hard to tell if it actually has an open back outside pocket or if that's just a seam. Some photos in case the listing Poofs, it's already been posted on Ebay's Fashion board:

MAY be the same bag as 2&3, leather wrinkles around turnlock look identical. This one has a creed photo though, and it's a MESS. Illegible and invalid serial with "SCRTCHES" IN CREED. SELLER DELETED THE CREED PHOTO WHEN RELISTING SO SOMEONE MUST HAVE POINTED IT OUT BUT SHE STILL RELISTED. Sold on 3-18 for $40.

DO NOT BUY FROM EBAY SELLER ' barbarcampo0 ' !!!!!!

The first, the one described as a penny is styled like a convertible clutch. Seller's measurements are just a little off, but it could depend on how it is measured. I can't find any creeds in my files with the same spacing, and the puffiness is worrisome. I wouldn't buy it but I wouldn't report it.

Aww, poor barbarcampo0. All those fakes must have been removed.

I agree it's a Convertible Clutch #9635 (I've rehabbed a few). The seller's measurements are probably wrong. The bag measures closer to 11 x 7 x 2-1/4". The creed may look puffy because of the pebbly texture of the leather on the pocket, stamp pressure, etc. The serial number is spot on, font-wise.

Here's a question related to amid 1990s Court i did not buy in a thrift store today -- was there ever a U plant? The creed was so faded I could not make out any other letters in it than something-something-U, which I had never seen, so I took a pass. Could it be legit? The bag had no obvious problems. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Yes, there is/was a U plant (Hungary) but we'd need to see the bag and creed to authenticate it.

I was wondering about that especially when I couldn't see if it actually had an open back pocket or not. And I'd never had a Convertible Clutch and never really paid attention to the 3 bottom seams before. That explains a LOT! Thanks, ladies!

I've had several too. That bottom construction is really weird and hard to get shaped correctly when you rehab so it is easy to notice once you've had to deal with it. I guess they were going for sort of a gusseted, expandable shape. I believe I've seen fake convertible clutches that were just flat across the bottom - they may have gotten the seams in the right places, but didn't get that weird caved in effect.

Beware, I bought what I thought was black Court in the early days of my vintage passion with a super faded Creed and #. Turns out it was fake!

Funny side note. A tabac/putty CC was my first real rehab. I went gung-ho with first time ever applying Obenauf's Oil. What mess lol. I put so much on the bottom that it seeped through the bottom center seam and the two corners seams. To the inside!! There is no mopping that up once it's been applied. Unforgettable. Good times.
