IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

You didn't post any measurements, which we ask for in Post One especially with older bags. There should be a patch inside the bag on an inside pocket if it's wider than 9 or 10 inches. There are no photos of any inside pocket, or lining if it has any, There's no photo of the "Coach" zipper pull you mentioned either - does it actually say Coach on it? So I'm still in the same blind spot as before. None of the pictures you posted show whether or not it has the details a Coach should have. The small leather hangtag can't be used to authenticate since that can be easily added to a non-Coach bag. The style is recent enough and the bag looks big enough to have some kind of inside pocket with a creed and serial number on a leather patch if it's actually a genuine Coach.

I am soooooo sorry. The measurements are 10 x 11 and here are some more pics. I didn't even see the patch before. It's very worn and doesn't look better in person than it does in the pictures. And it's not a zipper pull, again sorry, just a hang tag?

I'm not seeing any new pictures. It looks like you have the pocket pulled out of the bag in the 7th picture, but we are seeing the suede back of that pocket. There should be a creed stamped on the smooth leather side of that pocket. If it doesn't, it wasn't made by Coach.

Hi everyone,

I've been in the hunt for a Coach penny from the 2012 legacy collection.

Is anyone able to authenticate?

If it is proven fake, how does that work with shopgoodwill.com ?

Authenticators - what is your opinion of goodwill vs. ebay, poshmark, mercari, etbth, etc? I can't find much on their website about what happens if an item is believed to be counterfeit, it just says to contact the seller prior to purchasing.

item: Coach legacy penny, G1269-19914

comments: This one is from plant 69. Does "No." in the serial number indicate a fake? The photos of authenticate penny creeds posted here on the TPF use an underline and different font for the serial number, but they are from plant 71. Comment: isn't this fake? The turn lock is what's making me doubt it.. I don't have one to know what else is wrong with it.

Yes, it's fake. There aren't a lot of details to check on these, usually just the turnlock. In this case, the chain is wrong, the drawstring has unfinished edges, and the edging is sloppy.

Hello I was hoping to get some assistance authenticating a bag I recently acquired.
It has no reg number I believe it was produced when the strips of leather were attached and it's been lost over the years.
I have an additional question. That is if the bag is authentic can I get a replacement registration number from Coach if I call?

Item Name: Possibly Musette
MEASUREMENTS:
15 X 9 X 4.5 approximately due to age and wear on bag.

It's authentic. I don't believe you can get a replacement registration number from Coach. They haven't used that numbering system in decades.

Thank you for your response.
Am I correct is it a musette?
Also can you tell me the age? I was thinking late 60's-early 70's?
Yes,it's a Musette, probably made between 1978-1983. Bags made in the late 60s-early 70s didn't have creeds.

It took me way too long to to figure out how ti just uploaded a picture, but I did it! This is the creed but it's not really legible.

From what I can see, I would say it is authentic. The bag was part of the Lightweights collection so the stamping wasn't really deep. It looks like 4075 Bucket Bag.

Having seen the listing prior to its removal, I agree that the listing from flametree0512 was fake however IIRC, we determined (sometime in the past) that some of the turnlocks on those coin/key cases did have indentations but at the time weren't conclusively proven as fake.

Here's the post (mine followed by Hyacinth's):
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/authenticate-this-coach.889527/page-1831#post-32074537

And the listing I'd questioned at the time:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Mini-Periwinkle-City-Coin-Purse-Leather-Turnlock-Key-Chain-Vintage-Bag-/263515086062?rmvSB=true&nma=true&si=OMQybDn4jO7V5iroLlSAqpadD9E%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Any new opinions? (I notice that the chain links on the questioned items appear different from known authentic ones.)

I've never figured out some of those discrepancies in the mini coin purses, even after comparing the 6 or 8 I still own (all of which were bought on Ebay so there's no way to be 100 percent sure about those either). That's why the word "questionable" was invented. The most worrysome thing is the indented turnlock but I'm still going to stick to scratching my head and muttering "questionable" until and unless we find a NWT example in its original box with that exact chain and turnlock.

But I'll go along with Whateve's assessment on the one being questioned.

Did I comment on it the first time? Looking at it now, I would say it is fake. I'm worried about the shape as well as the chain. It seems too rounded. Here's a picture of Suzanne's collection. You can see that all except one have squarish edges. That weird one is suspect.
