Hangtags don't prove ANYTHING, they can be removed and changed in 5 seconds flat and often are. And Coaches aren't perfect. That includes stampings.

What matters is the details of the bag itself, most importantly the creed and serial number stamps, and those are genuine.
Great! Good to know the bag is genuine. Thanks. So, just wondering, is the hang tag fake?

Comment: I'm pretty sure it's fake. Confirm please. Also did Barklay ever come with turn lock instead of spring lock?

Yes, it's fake.

The Barclay changed from a springlock to a turnlock in 1997, so any genuine one would have a serial number with style, year, month and plant codes. The fake you asked about also has a number on Daria48's Fake Numbers List.

Thank you! Do you have a catalog pic of the newer version? I did tell the seller it's a common fake serial number. I didn't know the lock changed however.
It should be interesting to see if the seller does the right thing and ends her listing. My experience on Poshmark tells me that @swimrose9391 won't end her listing but will probably block you. (I'm not being nasty; just speaking from experience!)

And for the record, swimrose9391 DOES have a Willis, though it's not described as such! Oh, the irony!

The newer version with the turnlock is style 9096, the older one with the springlock was 9896, the style number changed when the lock did. From Holiday 1997 and 1991 respectively:

So I just got blocked by the Mercari seller who is selling a fake tearose dinky. I told her it was fake and she still claimed "I have receipt"! Yeah if the real one she bought! I'm still not buying it. Someone else will get fooled sadly as the details are all wrong. I had been reporting the bag to Mercari and they won't remove it.

Not as far as I can see. Those were stamped by hand so mistakes were possible.
FWIW, I think the hangtag is okay too though I'm not sure it's original to the toiletry bag.

I found another listing for the same item as well as the stock photo and neither appears to have a hang tag.

And this listing:
COACH Men's Brown Leather Zippered Mercer / Toiletry Kit / Shave Travel Bag 0526

I think this is the same too but the full creed isn't shown.

Please help me with this bag. I also picked up a "Kate Spade" when I purchased it, and the Kate Spade turned out to be fake, so now I'm questioning this one. The Coach on the creed is very faint, so I couldn't get a very good picture of it.

That is so cute, and the fake is so close (to my rookie eyes)! I can definitely see that the colors are off, though. Seriously, I am learning so much from this forum!

I'm sort of up in the air on feet. One the one hand, they help with wear, but on the other hand, they scratch up surfaces (like my wood table when one of the kids was playing "cars" with one of my footed purses.
So glad the bag is okay! [emoji23] Sorry about your table. Ok how sharp are those feet? Is it a vintage Coach bag?

The comparison picture really helps. Thanks for posting. It almost never works to tell a seller she has a fake.

Yeah you know, I think the hang tag looks kinda big on the bag, the leather doesn't match either. It might be authentic Coach but I think someone at Goodwill may have added it. I often notice the Goodwill boutique adds the wrong hang tags to Coach bags when they are missing. They probably think it increases the value of them. I will likely leave the hang tag off. Who needs it when it will likely only be ever used by me inside my luggage anyway?
