It's authentic.

@Hyacinth and her fast fingers win the Harvey Weinstein award!

And you get another photo to add to your collection of targets! Maybe you can tack it on a tree and practice aiming your snowblower at it. :giggle:

So is Boston buried yet or did the latest storm give you a break? I haven't even watched the Weather Channel today, it's another David Attenborough Day on BBCAmerica.

I wasn't absolutely sure about that Watson, that R plant code still needs more work and the photos from that seller leave a LOT to be desired. I'm only 99 percent sure it's fake.
I was basing both on the thickness and the US-made text.

My records show R as being in Thailand and later than 1997.

From my records:

I did find this one that I believe I saved from one of your (Hyacinth's) posts and it's US 1996 and labeled as "possibly ok" but the font is different from the one in question.

This was supposed to be the 4th blizzard in 3 weeks and they were predicting anywhere from 6 to 18" (as they needed to be able to say they were right) and we didn't get anything! Well, there was a sort of dusting that melted in a few hours.

It completely fizzled and the meteorologists were as wrong as could be!

Congratulations! It's about time Boston got a break.

yep, there are a few others I need to compare too but I just keep forgetting to put them all together and compare. The only ones I'm really sure of are the ones from around the Millenium from Thailand, although I think there may have even been a fake Thailand creed too.

ETA - That extra-thick font always seems to be a red flag, doesn't it? It wouldn't surprise me if all of those along with all the K3H-s and the rest of the extra-wides came from the same source.

I'm learning. I appreciate all the help. Based on what I've learned. In the following pics. The red is a fake. I also already own these 2 bags. Am in allowed to own and wear,? Just not sell? Thank you.View attachment 4010724View attachment 4010727View attachment 4010732View attachment 4010735View attachment 4010736View attachment 4010742

That worked pretty well!

I think it's ok but hope Whateve will take a look, she has more experience with the Janice's Legacy than I have.
I think it is good too.

I'd love the feel that buckle. It makes no sense to put a heavy brass buckle on a lightweight bag!

I agree. But that Costa Rica plant was kind of the "red-haired stepchild" of the Coach family by then. They always seemed to get the leftovers, like serial stamps that had been cobbled together from different pieces so that the digits were different sizes and fonts, or the 2004 serial stamps that had to stamp "4" instead of "04" because Coach didn't think it was worth sending them an updated stamp since they'd be closing down soon anyway. So the buckle might be something they found in the back of a drawer because they'd run out of the good ones and had to scrounge. Didn't a few very early Lightweights still use Solid Brass-stamped buckles? I thought we saw one or two here within the last year or so.

Thanks. I thought of the Dakotas but I couldn't find anything in the catalogs about solid brass. I couldn't remember if I had seen solid brass on mine.

They may have been just on the larger styles since the buckles were fairly large too. My big Mystery Dakota that I've been referring to for years as the Sundance has the same solid brass stamp on the buckle. Haven't checked any of the smaller ones though.

CRIKEY !!! I hope we're all caught up and haven't forgotten anyone. If we have, please let us know.

By my calculations, that makes 82 posts in just a little less than 24 hours. That must be some kind of record, except maybe for an unusual situation or two that may have happened and I can't remember, or have blocked out of my brain for some reason.

WOOT !!! WELL DONE, LADIES !!!! :drinks:

The fake 90s bags are nicer than what is made today. Just a thought. Thanks for all your help.
This is interesting. So the fake bags you're speaking of have genuine leather and nice stitching, nice quality? I have yet to see a fake bag but wonder if I'd be able to notice. I've read about fake vintage bags and especially fake signature bags, but what about the leather bags that are current and current leather MFF bags? Are there any tells to watch for?
