Hello, the creed # on this Ergo bag looks wrong. Also, it feels like the strap is too long for this model. Could someone please take a look?

Here's another one I have a question about. Is a dot instead of a dash is valid for Coach creeds?

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/222648457023

Seller: joshua1009

Thank you!
Both are fake. You should never see that frame around the stamp, like on the purple one. Plus the font is too thick and the S plant code is invalid for the US. I've never seen a circle in place of a dash. I don't even think they have a symbol like that on their stamp. Plus the font, spacing, length of the underline, size of the letter 'o', and the invalid plant code K are all problems. The snap also looks wrong.

Thank you!

The first one's definitely fake, the long strap is the least of its problems and the serial number doesn't even match the title or description. "M6S-9027" is what's on the creed, not J7C-9027. "S" is never a valid USA plant code and was ONLY used by a Chinese plant, first for business and travel bags starting in 1996. Assume ANY S-plant handbags with USA creeds are fake.

The second one is also fake, the serial number in the photo ALSO doesn't match the description AND has an invalid plant code along with the circular "dash".

Report away!

ETA - Here's another M6S-9027 fake - this time they didn't even bother to get the details of the 9027 style right, from the strap to the size to the fake outside pocket:

Please authenticate. This China-made bag is in my possession. It is 8 inches tall and 10 inches across, and is some kind of burlap-like fabric trimmed in python. The back is identical to the front and the lining is taffeta. The bottom unzips for a green leather extension. I'd appreciate the name if anyone knows it. TIA.

The red one is definitely fake. The C and D plants through most of their history had a very recognisable serial number font that you can recognise with experience . The red one one is wrong. Here's a GENUINE J6D-serial - we call the lines above and below "overstamping lines" and they're the top or bottom of the next or previous number or letter on the rotating stamp that Coach used for their early serial numbers. They should be consistent with whatever that number or letter happened to be. Because the numbers had to be changed manually and quickly, misalignments and sometimes even missing or added digits or characters were possible, like this one where the dash between the 2 halves of the number is way too high. It doesn't mean something's fake:

The black one is almost unreadable, maybe Whateve can take a look.

And here's a hint on how to bring out those almost invisible stampings - a very light brushing with a white or light colored powder, then carefully wipe off the excess and the stamping should be more legible. Pale eyeshadow, frosted highlighter, probably even baby powder will work.

As for fakes - use them, abuse them, carry your gardening tools or your furbabies' poop collection bags in them. But DON'T sell or especially don't donate them unless you cut out the creed or pocket with the Coach logo and remove anything else that says Coach.
