It's fake. Next time, have items authenticated before bidding.

The seller, regevans appears to have been to Canal Street! In addition to the fake your friend won, there are other fakes in her completed listings.

I made the mistake of letting a teenager staying with us for a couple days use my ebay account to bid on it. I was going to look at it before and then my 2 year old decided to get sick everywhere and I did not see it until after. I told her it was a horrible fake purse and that I would not pay for it lol. She whined but I can't let her buy that, it will fall apart on her. I messaged the seller to try to cancel the purchase.

Uck that orange one is even worse and I can't believe they want $125 for that other.:/

Hi there, me again. Could I get this cute swing pack authenticated? It's 10x11x1

Thank you so much!

Genuine, but NOT from the early 1980s as the seller claims. (If sellers don't have an accurate production date, they shouldn't quote a date at all). It's at least 10 years newer, a Shelton Bag style 9917 made probably in 1993.

Thanks Hyacinth. I rank 1980's in the same class as "rare" and "Bonnie Cashin."

Yep, and all with the same aroma of bull-shyte around them.

The color looks very similar to my burgundy basic bag.

When you get it, post pictures in the rehab thread. There are several ways you can fix those holes, some easier than others.

Got my "plum" bag today. I believe the color is the mahogany pic/links you provided. Thanks! It's so beautiful! I didn't know the seam wear/holes could be repaired! I'll have to search the forum for some before/after photos.

You probably won't find information on the colors online. The public internet and personal computers were between 5 and 15 years in the future during the time this style was being made, so it would be nearly impossible to find that information on the internet. Except at tPF, maybe, and then only in vintage bag discussions. This one is probably from the early 1980s so I doubt if it's actually a true Purple (my guess is Burgundy).

Maybe WHATEVE can answer your color question, and can also point you in the right direction for cleaning, repair and rehab advice. The bag is genuine. And that particular example may be a Cashin design but probably wasn't made until at least several years, maybe as much as a decade, after she stopped designing for Coach.
Interesting! What's the difference between the older & newer cashins? Just the serial #s? Or is it a design/size thing?
