Blergh.. I bought this thinking I was buying a Lindy. Now I'm wondering if it's Coach at all. There's no Creed patch inside. Is that normal? I have the salmon one and that definitely has a Creed patch with serial numbers. Also it says sample on the listing but I was thinking it was a spelling error that was supposed to be simple maybe (?).

The hinges have the word IDEAL on them.
So what say you expert authenticators?

Is there ANY Coach stamp inside the bag at all? Without some kind of permanent mark there's simply no way to authenticate it. We always advise against buying bags that are described as samples or that don't have valid creeds or serials because without that there's nothing that shows the bag may have been made for Coach.

I did read that totorial about most J8Y serial numbers being fake but I was hoping against hope because I could not believe that everything else checked out. Here is the pic that you asked for and thank you so much for the information. I also read that it is very rare that the J8Y prefice is an authentic bag. I was hoping this is one of the few

That confirms it. Genuine Coach handbags never have indentations for the prongs on the back of the turnlock plate. Sorry, it's definitely fake. If you search this thread or the Coach forums for the words "turnlock indentations" or "turnlock indents" referring to the turnlock backs you'll find many more examples.

I think the Guide says something about that serial prefix never being found in a genuine bag, rather than " it is very rare that the J8Y prefice is an authentic bag." because I know I've never seem one in any genuine Coach. We've seen it in some very close fakes like yours, but there are always a few details that confirm that the J8Y- bags are fake. Ebay did the correct thing in removing the listing. If the Daria48 guide questions a number, believe it. And check the Guide before you buy.

No, unfortunately there's nothing that says Coach inside except the hang tag which of course means nothing. IMG_20171229_004225876.jpg

I didn't comment last night because I don't know the bag in question but I did look at KELLS282's other listings and did a virtual eyeroll.

And here's another "sample?" with a 99999 style number:

While I don't know whether they're authentic or fake, she has quite a few rare and expensive styles, while although they can't be proven as fake, they also can't be determined as authentic either.

Not only are "sample" bags impossible to authenticate, not only do sellers of these "samples" never have receipts or documentation as provenance of what the sellers claim but these sellers usually have multiples of "rare" bags and other "samples." An added detail is that many of these sample sellers seem to be located in the NY/NJ area, raising questions of their sources. While they have access to Coach (from whom they'd have received receipts of some sort), they also have access to Canal Street, one of the counterfeit capitals of the country and from where one can get cheap fakes or AAA 5-star fakes, depending on the amount of money one is willing to spend.

Hello friends,
I am in need of some help. This bag was kicked off eBay and I think it is in fact authentic. Can someone please give it a look? I would greatly appreciate it:

@Guccigaga - Based on the number of times you've come here after listings have been removed and determined as being appropriately and correctly removed, it appears that you clearly haven't been verifying authenticity of your items, or if you have, you aren't using the right authenticators.

While you may not intentionally list fakes, the fact is that you're probably at risk of ebay restricting you from listing Coach at all.

I strongly recommend you verify ALL your Coach (and/or other branded) items BEFORE listing, even if you consider yourself expert enough to recognize a fake. Clearly, that hasn't been working for you.

JMHO.

I understand. I am really tempted to keep the bag as I had been looking for it in this color for a long time. I won't try to resell as Coach as there is no evidence of it being one. I really love the color.

Like we said, it can't be proved that it's a Coach. But I think that the 1991 50th Anniversary Retro line that the Lindy was part of may have been the first, or one of the first, Coaches to have used sewn-in creed patches because they had fabric linings. So IF it's really a sample bag there probably wasn't any kind of patch available yet to put in them. Coach may not even have decided how they were going to display the creed stamp.

Just a possibility. In this particular case, not having any kind of creed isn't as big a negative as it would have been for a more recent style. My gut feeling says it's genuine but there's just no way to prove it. Here are thumbnails of the 3 photos of that style from my files:
