Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.

Blergh.. I bought this thinking I was buying a Lindy. Now I'm wondering if it's Coach at all. There's no Creed patch inside. Is that normal? I have the salmon one and that definitely has a Creed patch with serial numbers. Also it says sample on the listing but I was thinking it was a spelling error that was supposed to be simple maybe (?).

Sorry, the serial number says it all. J8Y- is never a valid Coach prefix since the Y plant code has never been found in a genuine Coach bag and that plant code wasn't assigned to a plant that made hand bags. Almost every J8Y-fake we've seen even uses the same font in the serial number. I'd also like to see the back of the turnlock plate where the prongs are visible but the serial number is proof. The Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers List parts 1 and 2 mention that prefix.

and so does the post just 2 posts above yours.

There are a few other small differences like the shape and thickness of the padded part of the leather turnlock tab but you'd have to compare yours to several genuine versions to see them.
