Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.

  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read

Hmm, the bag in the listing looks fine. However, I have this exact picture of the creed in my files, except the one in my files has been cropped a bit. I probably saved it off a listing last December. Either this is the same seller with the same bag or the picture doesn't belong to the seller.

Just saw this on Mercari and I'd like to big on but am concerned about the "A" in the creed...looks kinda rounded on top. Not sure if that means anything or not? Thanks for your help!

Yes, it's fake. J was never a valid plant code for bags made in the US. Can you get your money back? Welcome to the purse forum. I love your user name!

Thank you. I'm so sad :( I hope I can get my money back but if not...idk is it definitely really bad quality if it's a fake? You think it could last a few years? The leather feels good to me, but I admittedly don't know too much about leather.

That's not the point. It is illegal to sell fakes, no matter what. You bought it assuming it was authentic, so no matter what you paid, you were cheated. Be very insistent when you ask for your money back. Tell them they are breaking the law. If you used a credit card, you can open a dispute with your credit card company, but first try to get the shop to do the right thing.

And FYI, even if the store tells you they never claimed it was authentic, i.e., they didn't sell as "Coach," they broke the law in selling it.

It's a seller's responsibility to know and verify authenticity before selling. And that applies to stores, thrift shops, yard sales and online sellers.

Thanks for this, hopefully they do the right thing. I am pretty sure they knew it was fake too, this is one of those hipster-run fancy vintage shops in downtown Toronto and they had like 5 other coach bags so it looks like their people go out looking for them. And they actually did sell it as coach, said so on the tag :/
