Definitely fake!!

Thanks for confirming. Is the padding over the turn lock wonky? Among other issues like the price!!
The padding is wrong and the style number is for a completely different style bag.

Nancy McGarry of nancysjewelrybox2 also has this fake:

Yes, also the style number is wrong, the color of the "brass" hardware is too light, and even if the N month code was valid, the H plant code is too small. It should be a bit bigger than the other digits. I reported it but I doubt very much if Etsy will do anything.

The seller destroyed her credibility even more by claiming the bag was from the 1970s. The Willis wasn't even introduced until 1993. Do NOT buy from or trust seller " nancysjewelrybox2 "

All three are genuine. The two Willises technically won't be "vintage" until 2020 when they're 20 years old.

Hello kind authenticators. I need your help, please.

ITEM: Coach Chauncey Bag about 8 x 6.5 x 3 inches (bought a while back at Thrift Shop)
Comments: In my possession, didn't question its authenticity till going over the Salearea guides noticed that by the end of the 90s the number format changed to 4 - 3 digits and this one still has the 3 - 4.
Thank you in advance for your input.

It's genuine.

It wasn't until about a year or two after the Salearea Guides were written and posted that I noticed that a few bags were still using the old 3+4 format in their serial numbers and continued using it until late 1992 almost into 1993. Since I wasn't the one who actually posted the Guides to Ebay I haven't been able to correct or update them so a few pieces of information still need updating including that one. I'm sorry for any confusion or concern that might have been caused by it.

Just another example of Coach's famous inconsistency.

And Ebay hasn't helped by losing or misplacing the links to 2 or 3 of the Guides in their Guides search and on Salearea's own Ebay pages - the Guides are still there but now you have to use Google to find the links to them. My friend Daria48 told me that the same thing happened to the links from her Ebay page to the Coach Fake Serial Numbers List, both parts.

Thank you so very much Hyacinth, for your prompt and informative reply. I was more confused than concerned, because you taught me that the only thing consistent with Coach is their inconsistency, LOL. I thought this could be one of those cases, but I am not an expert.

I also noticed that the links to the guides are missing, I founded them in another way, but I wonder why they had to mess around with such handy and great information.

I really wish I knew. Like I mentioned, you can still find them through Google but there's no way any more to search for them on Ebay. But I'm posting them all here in case anyone wants to save them.
