I'm sorry, it is absolutely fake. There are a zillion things wrong with it. It is possible that someone returned it to Marshalls, switching tags, and the salespeople there had no clue.

ETA: If too much time has passed, I don't know what you can do. Credit card companies have time limits for disputing charges.
THANK YOU for your response! I am just SO MAD at myself that I trusted Marshalls (where I often shop) to sell a FAKE! I purchased this expensive bag (for me expensive) to celebrating getting my first job out of school. I put it in my closet with the intention to use it on a special occasion. Time went by and I just didn't use it. I am not educated in purses and didn't think I had to worry about Marshalls selling counterfeits. In my online research there was someone that said there are people who buy a real coach, switch it with a fake then return it! I am just not that kind of person so I don't think like that. My guess is that is what happened but I don't work at Marshalls and I for sure don't think their employees are trained to look for "fakes". Earlier this week I emailed coach counterfeit and their law department but haven't heard a response. I will still try and look for my credit card purchase or just call them to see what I could do. I just am LIVID and from what I've read about the BBB reviews on Marshalls, I don't think I'll be getting my money back. GRRR. Once there was confirmation that the bag is fake, my plan is to contact Marshalls Corporate to file complaint and see what I can do. My major problem is 1. Time of purchase 2. No receipt. Really, this #1,2 should not matter!! TAGS ARE ON AND NO ONE in their right mind would be wearing an "expensive" bag with tags attached for everyone to view, right?! AND...the point is that no matter how much time has passed, the fact is, MARSHALLS IS SELLING COUNTERFEIT BAGS! Aside from contacting Marshalls corporate, do you have any other suggestions? I am weary of posting anything on their media sites because if there is a chance I can get money back, I don't want to screw that up. Thoughts?

I'm so sorry. I don't have much experience in this area. One of our other authenticators, @BeenBurned, might have more advice. There was a major case with a woman who systematically bought bags from department stores and then returned fakes. One of the stores that was involved was TJ Maxx, which is owned by the same company as Marshalls.

Thanks again whateve! I am a "newbie" to this site and in the use of this site, contacting authenticators via message is something I guess I'm not suppose to do but I would like to see what @BeenBurned has to say. Do you think it's okay to message @BeenBurned? Now that I know this exchange with counterfeits happens, I am not shocked. The Marshalls store I purchased from is located not far from DC where at one point, there were several "bag seller" on a street corner just selling counterfeits. There is a thread on this forum for Marshalls and TJ max fantastic finds so I for sure will post on there. My next plan is to contact Marshalls Corporate. Thanks again!

Ugh, I totally got duped. I am a Coach Newbie and had no idea. Thought Etsy was a trusted place to purchase these things. Writing the seller now. Hope I get a refund. Thank you for your help whatev!
Etsy is only as "trusted" as its sellers. There are honest sellers there and there are dishonest ones. (GutsyGirls is one who is now on Etsy after being booted from several other sites after many fakes were reported and removed.)

And in my experience, I've never had an luck getting Etsy reports of fakes acted on.

Please help authenticate this COACH! I purchased this "coach" bag from Marshalls awhile back and it has been UNUSED, still with tags (yellow final clearance- made up tag by Marshalls and tag from COACH is torn but was located in the inside pocket), and kept in my clean, dry closet. As I was cleaning out my closet, I found the "leather" on my "coach" bag was damaged! In seeing how the "leather" looks underneath, it does not look leather at all! Now I am thinking it's NOT leather or a coach. I have other coach bags which have endured a lot of use and are still in tact. After much "googling" I checked for what to look for in a fake, am somewhat overwhelmed and was hoping someone on this site could help give their opinion. I have emailed coach counterfeit to ask for assistance but have yet to hear a response. PLEASE let me know your thoughts and what you think I can do! Since I purchased the bag long ago and have moved since the purchase, I have NO idea where the receipt is. I could look back into my credit card charges but with Marshall's shady return policy and the damage now on the bag that I HAVE NEVER USED, I am in a dilemma. I really think it's fake and the bag was sold to me for $350!!!! GRRR. I have attached some photos of the bag so that you can hopefully see what I see.
SIZE: 14" W and 13"L. I googled the Number located on the creed tag but the bag that came up is NOT the bag I have. I believe the style is most like Felicia. The front "leather" C's do not line up in the middle. There is no YKK on the zipper. COACH is stamped on the hardware (which I saw in my research may be fake), the inside fabric feels a little "cheap" and it has the coach label throughout (which I haven't seen before). THANK YOU in advance for your response!

I have no doubt that some crook bought a bag at Marshalls, reattached the Marshalls price tag to the fake and returned the fake with the receipt she received when buying the genuine item.

I've found fakes at Marshall's and TJ Maxx several times have notified store managers to point them out. In all except one instance, the managers removed the fakes from the selling floor and held them for loss prevention.

Unfortunately, a store like that is vulnerable to dishonest customers because of the nature of that business. They sell a wide variety of items and the clerks who handle returns aren't trained to identify authenticity of items. If a customer wants to return an item with tags and a receipt, they accept it, issue the refund and return the item to the sales floor.

That said, I think you'll be very successful in getting a refund (or merchandise credit) by returning to the store and asking to speak to the store manager. Generally, Marshalls (and the whole TJX corporation) have liberal return policies and should honor your return.

TBH, I can't recall having seen Coach bags at their stores for more than $199.99 or maybe $249.99 but for what you paid, I'm guessing that someone bought a premier brand (Gucci, Fendi or similar) item and returned the fake Coach.

I honestly don't think it's going to be as difficult as you're prepared for but just in case, if you don't get satisfaction at store level from the store manager, call their corporate offices and request customer service and/or loss prevention.

Another possibility is that you might have been a victim of the "Loukpeach" scam. There's a
l-o-n-g thread on the ebay subforum here. "Loukpeach" was the TPF ID of a member who lived in the Virginia/Washington, DC area and bought over $1 million worth of designer handbags from TJ Maxx, switched and returned fakes and sold the authentic bags on ebay.
Federal authorities arrested Ebay seller Richgirlscollection/Loukpeach

Good luck. Keep us updated because I'd like to know whether they give you any grief.

Okay there is more proof in your third picture. First, the back of the female part of the turnlock should be smooth. On yours the metal dents in where the parts are folded over. This is not the hardware Coach used. We see this on many fakes. Second, Coach changed the styling of the court bag around 1999. Yours has the styling of a post-1999 bag but the creed indicates it was made 1996. See in my picture, the binding along the top edge under the flap goes straight across and continues onto the sides. That is what a 1996 court should look like. On yours, the binding curves down the sides of the front.

Thank you again! I am returning the bag and will be getting a full refund. :)
