Item: Coach 1941 varsity patch rogue
Seller: yujiw-9
Link:
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/122726324523

Comment: this bag has a Creed patch that says it's a Disney X Coach limited edition dinky bag! The suede pockets are orange instead of honey suede. The patches are very poorly cut and bad quality. The Creed patch alone sets of my alarm. There's already a bid. I don't own this bag but I compared to the listing below:

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/122702072450

Please confirm it's a counterfeit.
FAKE CONFIRMED!!

This is a good example of why these bags are so hard to authenticate. Although side-by-side pictures show obvious quality differences, without knowing what to look for, the bag looks fairly decent.

Here are some comps showing the differences between yujiw-9 's fake and an authentic bag. (I didn't show the creed because that's pretty obvious but to novice eyes, the creed on the fake could be perceived as looking good.)

I also question the other designer items the seller has. :(

Thank you! Reported. I kept toggling back and forth with the listings and were noticing the same details. Also noticed the three stitches were in singles and not done in double stitches, the lining also looks like a solid fabric unlike authentic Rogues.

Good morning all, I have a Poppy hair scrunchy / point tail holder that I'm not sure can be authenticated. I believe it was some kind of bonus when Coach launched their Poppy line. I received it along with some other Poppy items I bought on eBay years ago. The heart charm has a clip. Any opinions?

Although I'd never seen it before, I did a google image search and found a bunch of examples of the same item and I'm sure you're correct that it was a promotional item.

According to this blog, it was a Japanese magazine gift. (I've seen some pretty cute items that come from Japanese magazines!)

NM - thanks, BB!
@Hyacinth, I read your post prior to your edit and would like to comment on your valid concern/caveat.

For others who didn't see it, Hyacinth pointed out that since items are GWPs (gifts with purchase), in cases of disputes, it can be difficult, if not impossible to prove authenticity, especially if the seller wasn't the original recipient of the GWP.

Hello! I am in need of your authenticity expertise. I apologize if this may have been posted previously i did not see it when i searched. I've been watching this Coach Gramercy for a little bit. Been looking for a red bag. I'm nervous to purchase this from the photos (these are all that were provided). The person listing put in their post they are a TPF member but new seller on the platform from which they are listing (which doesn't mean anything bad everyone starts somewhere  ). Anything anyone can tell me from the photos or help guide me in what to ask for so i know i am purchasing the real deal. TIA! *THESE ARE THE EXACT PHOTOS FROM THE POSTING (BLACK BARS AND ALL WHICH MADE ME NERVOUS IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS FROM A INSTAGRAM OR FACEBOOK LIVE?)

I have several comments:
1. If the person is a TPF member, you might consider asking what her TPF ID is. While it's not an indication of honesty or authenticity, it can give insight into whether she's active or not or if she's even telling the truth about being a member.
2. Keep in mind that anyone can join TPF and there's no vetting of members.
3. If she's a TPF'er, particularly one who touts her membership, you'd expect that her listings would have adequate pictures needed to prove authenticity. She only has 4 pictures, one of which is stolen from Coach and none of which prove anything re authenticity.
4. The same bag with a TPF reference is listed on Poshmark by seller roomie80:

There's no way to authenticate that bag on Poshmark or Facebook with those pictures.

Thank you so much for your time! The link to poshmark is indeed where i had viewed the bag originally. Your points are super fair and sound. I really appreciate it! I am a little bummed because you are right if they boast about being a TPF member (although anyone can join) she should know the "drill" for providing photos and authenticity.

Exactly! Why claim to be a TPF'er unless you're willing and able to provide information to prove yourself!

Hello! I found a bag marked Coach at a yard sale this weekend, and was sent to these forums when searching on how to tell if a purse is genuine.

Black leather purse with feet. Zips across the top with an open outer pocket on one side. It is unlined inside.
Measures approximately 9" high, 10.5" wide, and 4.5" deep across the bottom.
The creed states No. J8P-9966, made in Costa Rica. It seems to be poorly pressed on the bottom left corner.

I hope I haven't missed anything. I'm quite excited to clean it up and use it if it's authentic. Thank you for your time!

It's authentic.
