Hello! I just purchased my first Coach purse on ebay. Previously I only owned one purse, a Lucky Brand crossbody that I've had for over 6 years, but last week the straps completely broke off. I was in desperate need of a new purse, and decided to purchase this black Willis bag. It arrived today in great condition, but it didn't occur to me until now to see if it's actually authentic (duh).

Item: Willis Crossbody Bag
Listing number: 272780158303
Seller: topdesignerbrandsforless2015

Comments: This is my first post, so please let me know if you need anything else/I'm not doing this right. Thanks so much!

The bag is genuine, but the strap was apparently cut down by around 10 inches more or less and then the cut end sealed with a rivet that Coach never used and that doesn't match the other hardware. The drop measurement given in the listing is too short and the modification is obvious in the photos. And a strap with a drop of 17 inches can't be worn cross-body. Willis straps in original condition should be 48 inches maximum and about a 23 inch drop.

You probably haven't received the bag yet, but when you do, check the leather for signs of black shoe polish, the surface of Coach leather usually isn't quite so shiny.

Both are genuine. The third digit in the first one's serial number is actually a "C".

Hi all!
I bought this but don't know if it is OK because of its Coach stamp (?). Everything else looks 'right' to me but I am not expert! Is it a Madison ? Can find no Made in Italy stamp and the card slot sections are part fabric.
Thanks for looking.

Looking around see the part fabric parts of the slots/sections is common and found another same snap on an identical wallet but its Coach stamp has made in Italy right underneath Coach, Mine doesn't.
But would I be wrong thinking that the Madisons, Sheridans, Dakotas and Gramercys are rarely faked because of the expensive leather ?

We've seen fake Madison handbags, leather cost is no barrier to counterfeiters. And Sheridan wallets are faked a LOT, usually from Korea. Not all wallets will be stamped with where they were made either. I checked 2 of my own genuine Madison wallets, they're 2 different styles and one has a Made in Italy stamp and one doesn't. Not all might have the same Coach stamp either, it depends on when they were made. Whatever plant made yours might have been sent an older stamp to use until one with the new design was available.

I also checked 6 or 8 of my other Coach wallets, and every single one of them has mostly fabric inside the credit card slots. I don't understand why this should be a problem. Try pulling a credit card out of an all-leather slot and then out of the same slot design but with a satiny mostly fabric lining and tell me which is easier.

Fiocchi is the brand name of the snap manufacturer.

We've said it a thousand times before - COMPARE APPLES WITH APPLES. I don't care what other Coach styles have or don't have, the ONLY thing that matters is what the exact style you're looking at is supposed to have. And the ONLY thing it should be compared to is the same style, made in the same year and the same plant - preferably the same month. And sometimes even then there will be variations, especially from plants located outside the US. Good example - Coach couldn't even be bothered to send the Costa Rica plant the new serial number stamp when they started using 2 numbers for the year code in 2004. There are hundreds of CR plant bags made in 2004 with 1994 year codes.

And yes, it's genuine.
