Thank you and be safe!

Thank you so much! Yes, the pictures she had posted were not the best quality, but I took a chance anyways. The strange thing to me is that the stitching is white, but in the pictures from the Coach website the stitching is yellow. Is this something Coach frequently does?
Coach does occasionally change details when it puts items in to final production. Sometimes a prototype might not go over well or they might decide a certain pattern of fabric or color of leather (or thread) might not be as attractive as another.

There have been changes made to handbags, keychains and other accessories so they can differ from Coach's stock images.

    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller:
    Link:
    Comments:

  • If the bag in question is not on an auction site, please use the following:

Item Name (if you know it):
    Link (if available):
Then attach any photos (all authentication must include photos.)
    • Please be sure to include a clear readable photo of the creed stamp and serial number from inside the bag or accessory if there is one, and the bag's measurements when the bag is an older or vintage leather Coach.
    • Since mid-2014, Coach stopped putting serial numbers on creeds so in newer bags where the creeds don't have serial numbers, we also need to see pictures of the labels/tags from inside the bag. They are either both in the main open part sewn into the seam of the lining, or one might be buried deep inside the zipper pocket. One shows where made and the other has a serial number.

  • Do NOT PM an authenticator or moderator to request authentication. Any and all such requests should be posted in this thread.

No, no reporting. I have only reported one item ever and it was being sold by a company with tons of the same bag and had the most bogus wording on the creed patch AND was made in Korea.

The only thing that I wondered about with this was reading here on the forum in Hall of Shame that no Coach purse would ever have an ID card holder and here this one does. As you have said though, exceptions to almost everything!

I do like this bag. I am thinking of bidding on it and re- tanning as I did with some sort f my own bought new bags that got very old.

No, you probably read that no Coach purse would ever have a cheapo and badly made organizer panel like the one shown in whatever listing we were reporting. A few bags DID have small organizer panels but they were well made and usually of the same thick leather as the bag itself. Organizer panels or sections sometimes included more than just an ID pocket.

Please read our posts carefully, and go back and find the original post if you're not sure. I'm very specific about how I word them, which is why they're often edited after posting to make sure my meaning is clear.

"It's a very bad fake. All those parts under the flap are fake and cheaply made and the leather is stretch-marked, the serial number looks like it starts with "NT-", the buckles and turnlock aren't the right shape, and except for a tiny handful of bags, Coach did NOT put cwap organizer sections like that under the flaps of their classic and vintage handbags, and the few they did make would have been ten times better quality.
And Coach has NEVER used slits in the leather as credit card slots - they always use individually-sewn pockets."

Below is a thumbnail of one of the few organizer-type panels or pockets used in classic Coach handbags - Metropolis Flap 9022.

Are you sure it wasn't a phone holder that we said no classic bag would have?

This is the pertinent sentence, about 1/2 way down the post:
They'll sometimes have cell phone holders sewn on the side of the bag. Coach NEVER sewed cell phone holders on the outside of its classic leather bags.

And here's an example of a fake with the phone holder:

Even without the creed, the listing shows a window ID pocket on the front of the bag, something you wouldn't see on a genuine Coach:

Hello - my first visit. Question re: bag on ebay

Item: "Coach City Crossbody" but it's a Willis?
Creed: H13-9927
Link: www.ebay.com/itm/122583291508
Seller: blax31_8
Comment: First, seller has 0 feedback. Second, bag looks too new (made 2001?). Especially edges of strap and other areas of bag - they are so shiny. Maybe someone just went over it with dye?

Welcome to tPF.

Every seller has started with 0 Feedback. It's not anything to worry about unless there are other problems with their listings. The seller doesn't offer returns so if you have any doubts about the bag, don't buy it.

The descriptions could be better. It's a Willis, not any kind of City Bag. And it's NOT vintage which means 20 years old or older. It was made in China in 2001 and was one of the earlier China-made classic styles. And the bag doesn't look too new to me, I'm seeing normal wear patterns.

Dye or even something as bad as shoe polish is always a possibility. Contact the seller and ask what kind of conditioners, treatments or colorants have been used on the bag, and SAVE THEIR REPLY. If they say nothing and send you a bag covered in olive oil or shoe polish, you have grounds for a Not As Described claim through Ebay. I can't tell if that white-looking edge on the strap is a reflection or actually a loss of color. Too-shiny bags are often a red flag since classic Coach leathers really aren't supposed to be shiny.

Item: Helen's legacy
Creed: G7D-9953
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/162567756407
Seller: ladydiep
Comment: doesn't look like a typical plant D font and the underscore is too long under the o of No.

Fake, for all those reasons. The binding around the bottom isn't right either.

That seller " LADYDIEP " has been reported before. Not only has she listed fakes, but in a listing back in January she claimed to be a "proud TPF member". Now that claim isn't mentioned any more, and she still hasn't learned to authenticate before listing! Let's just say her credibility is shaky and I would NOT recommend buying from her.

There are posts spread over several pages starting here:

BeenBurned posted :
seller: ladydiep
seller says she is a member of tpf. I don't understand how buying items at estate sales ensures their authenticity."

If she was ever an active member of tPF and read these forums she would never have made such a ridiculous claim - if she was being honest, of course.
