Hello! Just purchased this Dinky... The serial number is a missing the space/dash, but I think it looks ok otherwise? Hopefully I didn't make a boo-boo! Thanks for your help

Item: Red Vintage Coach purse
Seller: jcvintage2015

That "missing" dash replaced by a number happened back in the 1980s in some bags, it's not a problem. The bag is genuine.

How does your mom carry her bags? By hand, short strap(s) over the shoulder, long strap hanging straight down from one shoulder, or crossbody? Or a combination?
Mostly shoulder, in a classic way. Not crossbody. Shorter strap. She has a Legacy Duffle that she really likes, but it's Parchment and getting worn. She needs a black "Walmart" bag -lol- not too fancy :D

My favorite vintage leather bag with lots of compartments is probably the Sonoma Pocket Zip, Natural Grain, style number 4924, from the mid 1990s. The strap is fully adjustable with a slider and the length end to end can be anywhere from about 20 to about 44 inches. It's pebbled leather, fairly lightweight, has large outside pockets front and back, a zipped center section and an open section with a magnetic closure on each side of the zipped center section, plus a smaller zipped pocket inside. and was available in a wide range of colors including black.. If compartments and organization are important to her, that would be a good choice, but there are quite a few styles that would fit the bill. It's hard to narrow the field down since Coach has made thousands of handbag styles. This listing (not mine) will give you a good idea of all the details, or search Ebay in the Clothing and Accessories category for "Coach 4924".

They also did a very similar style called a Hudson Pocket Zip style 6802 which was available in black with silver hardware. Here's an example:

You could also ask for ideas in the Vintage Coach Photos and Chat forum in the main Coach section where you'll find plenty of photos of vintage styles. Remember, the vintage leathers were thick and larger vintage bags could get heavy especially when full. Coach also made a Lightweight line back in the late 1980s thru mid 1990s when they changed the line's name to Soho and those will be lighter weight than the classic leathers.
