I believe the bag is authentic. The "defect" you refer to and show appears to be simply a point at which something was leaning against the leather and made an indentation. Leather is soft and it's possible something was pressing on that spot.

There should be a tag sewn into the pocket lining with a serial/style number.

The only thing I've not seen before is the bubble wrap around the handles but that's possibly done by the seller to protect them from rubbing when she shipped.

Hi BeenBurned :D sorry for late response

thanks a lot for answering my question and gave me detailed information about the kelsey bag. very happy after i read your comment, so relieved :D

now i can sleep

I bought this bag at a local Girl Scout Cookie/Rummage sale for $20. It was listed as black bag on the price tag and it didn't dawn on me it might be a Coach until I thought the strap looked familiar and I looked inside and saw a creed. It looks immaculate and there is not a scratch on her. The only thing missing is the hang tag. When I asked one of the adults if she knew if it was an authentic Coach bag, she said they were not a liberty to say yay or nay (understandable). I wanted it anyway, I like the look of it. It would put my mind at ease knowing if it is real or not. If it is real I plan on replacing he missing hang tag with my Lucy one:graucho:

It's authentic. It is a Patricia's Legacy, still available on Coach.com for $298.

Your Lucy hangtag will look awesome. Why didn't I buy a Peanuts hangtag when they were available? :shucks:

Yay!! I was never into the vintage-y bags because I am not really into the bright brass hardware and black leather. Someone had a lapse in judgement somewhere because I just saved myself $278.
That particular bag isn't vintage. It was made in May, 2014. You sure did get a great buy!

I have a ton of vintage and near-vintage Coach bags and only one is black leather. If you think that all vintage bags are black, you've been missing a lot. Coach made some gorgeous colors even back in the 60s. The brass isn't bright, it is mostly antiqued because of its age and because it is real brass that tarnishes. Coach started offering beautiful brushed nickel hardware in the mid 90s.

Not sure if this is the place to ask this, so if not, let me know. I paid for a bag on Etsy, a Patricia legacy, earlier today. It said "reserved for m Patricia Coach bag" or some such. In any case, it let me put it in my cart and pay for it. Then, a while later, I recieved notice that I'd been refunded my payment, with no explanation. I messaged the seller, but no response yet. Does "reserved" mean you can't buy it? If so, why is it still listed and why could I pay for it? Thanks.

Item: COACH 9061 RAMBLER LEGACY BLACK LEATHER SHOULDER HANDBAG CROSSBODY PURSE
Listing number: 251850644901
Seller: brendasplace2014

Comments: I searched the item number and couldn't find that anyone asked about this one yet. Thank you authentication experts for taking a look at this!
The style wasn't introduced until 1998 but this has a 1996 creed. The font of the creed is wrong for the factory and the "No." has the large "o" and big underline. In my opinion, that bag is fake.

If it wasn't reserved for you, you shouldn't have bought it. Etsy doesn't have a system to actually put an item on hold but sellers will put the word "reserved" in the title to save it for a particular buyer. The buyer asked the seller to hold it for her. You were still able to buy it because there isn't really a method to reserve an item. You could ask the seller to tell you if the other buyer decides not to buy it.
