@whateve Thanks. Yes it was a find! $25:panic: I think I already mentioned on the rehab or chat thread that I found 3 great bags at a Florida Goodwill when I went to visit my mother in February. That emoti pretty much says it all when I walked out of the store. So let this post be an inspiration to anyone reading this that may be thinking, Will I ever find a great bag cheap? Granted, it is not a Pony Express or Musette, but it a well kept British Tan with a few small stains and storage squash. You just never know what bargain you will find when you search online or walk in thrift shop. It didn't have a hand tag, but frankly I don't miss it. I borrowed a hang tag from another Brit for the full effect. Since I have been using it regularly for work (this style is a great working breed for me) it just ended up getting in the way with this style and I took it off.
The Goodwills around me stink! The closest they had to designer bags were a Nine West and a Prada with major holes in the leather.

Around me too! There are two Goodwills, one an hour north of me and one an hour south of me, that I try to hit if I am in the area. I have picked up a few newer bags (circa 2006) in decent condition at a good price. Although one is teal suede mammoth rehab project I conveniently forget about.
The moral of the story is take care of your aging parents in Florida. Seriously though whatevany, hang in there.

I love the style too. Florida is wonderful for thrifting. If I lived there, I would have even more of a purse hoarding problem than I do now.

That is true for me too. If they have Prada, they are fake. Locally I rarely find anything. I got a Coach wristlet from a Goodwill about 50 miles away. I found a Gucci for $3 at an independent thrift about 75 miles away. I got a $1000 Balenciaga bag at a Goodwill in Oregon for $40. Generally I only thrift when we travel since there is nothing good around here.

There is always Goodwill online but the shipping kills you.

Hello! I just signed up with this forum. I recently bought a bag and didn't even think of authenticating. Anyway could anyone tell me if this is authentic?

I'm sorry, it is fake. You should open a return, not as described. The prefix J6D is seen on a lot of fakes. The serial number has the wrong font. In "No." the "o" is too big, and the underline is too long. The year code, 6, indicates a production date of 1996, which is three years too early for a style that wasn't released until Fall 1999.
Seller dandelionfluff615

According to my records, the seller dandelionfluff615
had several counterfeit Coach bags reported and removed at the end on March, among them a bag with a known invalid serial number, L4C-9956. Clearly, dandelionfluff615 needs to start verifying authenticity of her listings.

whateve, thank you for the response. When I was reading the post on fake serial numbers and I did read about "o" and got concerned. Still I wish it was not a fake. Thanks again for the information! Next time when I see something I will first post here to see if it's authentic or not.
You aren't stuck with the fake! Open a SNAD (significantly not as described) claim through ebay. The seller will have to pay for return shipping (if she's foolish enough to want a bag back that she can't sell) and you'll get a full refund of your payment amount. Please don't eat the loss!

You might also consider added a comment to the feedback you left now that you've learned it's a fake.

BeenBurned, thanks for the heads up! I just filed to return the bag - waiting for the seller to respond. I attached the pic of the creed and the quote of whateve. Hope this will get resolved soon.. and now I need to hunt for the authentic one! The funny thing is there is a saddle bag I had in my watch list and it disappeared for some reason. Then I came here and saw the bag was indicated as fake, so it must have been flagged. I guess I don't have good eye for spotting the authentic ones!

Good afternoon experts! I'm back wit the age old question of 'real or fake'? Bag is in my possession purchased from GW. I can't find much info using the style # so any info you can give (if it's real) would be appreciated.

Approximate measurements are 9.5" H x 13" L x 4"D with a 9" strap drop.

As always, thank you ladies for you expertise!

Other opinions are welcome, but that seller has been discussed within the last few days because of maybe half a dozen recently-listed fake Coaches. Seller claims to have had the bags authenticated but apparently his "authenticator" is NOT qualified to tell a real Coach from a fake even when something as simple as Googling a serial number would have shown that several of his listings were fake because of known and confirmed always-fake serial numbers. There's NO excuse for any qualified authenticator to neglect such a simple and easy search. The seller has also posted information in his listings that he says was supplied by his "experts" and which has been proven incorrect.

For that reason I personally will not comment on authenticity of Coach items from ProVintageGear since doing so would feel too much like a recommendation and that's something I'm NOT prepared to give to that seller until and unless he changes whatever authentication procedures he's using and finds actual Coach experts to look over his Coach products. Just because someone claims to be an authenticator doesn't make them qualified to judge authenticity especially with brands like Coach (where very small details that can only be spotted by someone who has studied and assembled files and photos of the brand's details over many years) are just as important as recognised fake serial numbers that are easily found with a simple internet search. Even if the seller is doing his best to be honest, there seems to be a serious problem with where and from whom he's getting his information, and there is no apparent reason or justification for that lack of due diligence. Not only are some buyers spending money on counterfeits they were assured were genuine, but US Federal laws are also being broken. Selling counterfeit merchandise is a violation of federal and international trademark and copyright protection regulations.

Sorry I can't help. A quick look through this thread and the last few days' posts will help explain my concern. Again, this is my PERSONAL opinion, other authenticators can comment or not as they choose. See post number 1 in this thread for additional information.

Sorry I can't help..

Oh it's totally all right Hyacinth, I didn't wait it to be authenticated, just want to sort of confirm that it's fake.

I can't actually believe that as a seller having 300 listings of Coach bags he doesn't *KNOW* that some of his listings are fakes and push the responsibility to his "authenticator", real or imagined. I'm a newbie with hardly five or so vintage Coaches and I can see that there is something not quite right in F62-9870 made in Turkey?? I did have once purchased a Coach bag from ProVintageGear. Although the bag in itself was authentic and was authenticated here, the shopping experience wasn't particular charming. He has the attitude of "I'm the lawer I'm always right etc" and I thought that ok, maybe I save my money for someone else next time. Well it seems the lawfullest is not always so lawful.

Sorry about my gossip. It's obviously just my side of the story so please take it with a grain of salt.
