Hi! Can this bag please be authenticated? It's a Taft, and I understand it is copied a lot. Pics are attached, the creed is worn from use so the serial is hard to photograph. The serial is H5D 9980. Thank you for your help!WP_20170412_09_11_11_Pro.jpg

VERY FAKE. I hope you didn't buy it, or that at least you can get a full refund.

The serial number is a known "Always fake" number and has been found in dozens of fakes. Check serial numbers in the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers list at Ebay before you buy any Coach purse.
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Fake-Coach-Serial-Numbers-NT-4903-and-more-/10000000002744619/g.html

also the hardware is wrong, the strap is wrong, and there's a misspelling in the creed that's been found in hundreds of fakes and ONLY in fakes.

Do you own this, or is it being offered for sale? If it is, we need the listing information and URL, as required by the rules in post number 1 of this thread.

You need to start authenticating BEFORE you buy, not after.
OMG wow , but I had my doubts after i looked at it for awhile so I had to make sure here, no its not for sale and I picked it up at a yard sale for 3 bucks so didn't get hurt to bad:yucky:
Thanks Hyacinth and Whateve

Hello! I'm interested in this bag, but more generally as I've been shopping for my dream bag, I've also seen several similar creeds on this bag type with the dot instead of the underscore under the o. I've tried searching but haven't been able to find any info about that larger question.

On this listing, I know the photos aren't the best, so I understand it might not be possible to get a good sense of the authenticity. Thank you all so much for offering this help.

It's authentic.

I purchased this bag prior to knowing about vintage authentication. I received the bag today and the leather is beautiful and supple, I just want to double check the authenticity of the bag, especially regarding the cracking leather on the sides (searched others of similar styles and it looked like a common stress point).

Followed katev's advice. This pic is a tiny bit better, can see the h5d as the light reflects off of it...View attachment 3665555

The font used for the serial number or what we can see of it looks OK. Please wait for Whateve to confirm.
I agree.

Hi!
Looking for some help. Dear husband surprised me today with this 1941 whiplash saddle #38219. First, I never knew this bag was available in this color (1941 red). However, I know there are department store exclusives that Coach US never gets. Specifically, I have the same bag in black, a color never available directly through Coach US.
After closer inspection, a few things popped out at me. Specifically:
Hardware is a matte black, not the shiny gunmetal that my other bags of this style have.
More so though, was the inside patch. Ironically, I am carrying my white bag of this exact same style which I purchased directly through Coach. I immediately compared the two patches. The patch on the red one is different. It is much larger in the red bag and has additional verbage, such as the very last line that talks about it being at the registration number. In addition, the patch inside the red bag shows a picture of a saddle bag which appears to be the anniversary style saddle bag, not this particular bag. My white bag of the same style does not have the picture of the saddle bag and it. It's just verbage.
I also include a photo of the tag that is sewn into the inside zip pocket.
I hope the info I'm providing is sufficient. The quality is the same as my other bags in this line. My husband rarely surprises me with gifts so I didn't want to seem disappointed or ask a lot of questions. However, if more details are needed, let me know. THANK YOU!

Comments:It does appear to have some wear?

Since there are a few small scratches and the tag isn't still attached to the bag, there's a change it's been used at least once. But it's a genuine Basic Bag #9455 probably made between the later 1970s to the mid-1980s.
