Thank you and be safe!

Hi, Although I'm not an authenticator, in my opinion, any honest seller who values their customers as well as their own reputation would accept a return for any reason. Actually the missing "r" is her problem because she sold the item, making everything about it her problem. Passing the buck is unacceptable. She should be reported to eBay even though by purchasing outside of eBay, you are not covered for this transaction. BTW, a receipt does not prove the item is genuine. She could have purchased a genuine bag and kept the receipt to copy as "proof" that her fakes are the real thing. Sorry this happened, action is needed to remove dishonest, uncaring sellers from eBay.
ALSO, looks like another made up story about getting an employee discount as none is shown on this receipt. Being a Coach employee has nothing whatsoever to do with anything.

I contacted her to try and get a refund and she told me she bought it from the Coach store herself and is a former employee and used her discount and left the purse in the wrapping so it wouldn't get messed up. She said the missing r is a defect and not her problem and I should take the purse up to a Coach store myself to get it exchanged. She attached this receipt.

I agree with most of what usMichigann posted. I do think she's an employee though. Although I don't have first hand knowledge of what an employee's purchase receipt looks like, the "employee file copy" and apparent (redacted) discount on a boutique purchase does seem to indicate that she's telling the truth or that she had a friend who's an employee buy it for her. But she doesn't show the date of purchase and the lack of date on that receipt can also indicate that it might have been purchased more recently than she's admitting. (Not accusing her of running to the store after the sale but it's possible that it was done after the questions were raised.)

If you go back and look at both my posts as well as Hyacinth's post about this item, neither of us said the bag is fake but neither was able to confirm authenticity either. And that's a problem when buying or selling an item that either has a mistake or is so unusual and/or rare that comparisons can't be made to known identical authentic items.

As such, I usually recommend against making purchases that can't be proven authentic. You don't want to spend money on an item that you don't feel comfortable about and even worse, should you ever tire of the bag, you can't resell it because as a seller, you have to be able to prove authenticity and so far, that can't be done.

The seller, kyyjamie has more than one problem and if she wants to help her reputation, she needs to learn from this experience.
  • Honest sellers don't take advantage of the exposure a selling site gives then encourage buyers to take the transaction off-site.
  • Good sellers (especially of highly faked items/brands) don't use other sellers' or companies' copyrighted photos. They show their own pictures of the actual items that buyers will receive so both the seller can prove possession of the item and the buyer knows what she'll receive.
If kyyjamie came here asking for advice, this is what I'd tell her. Employee or not, authentic bag or not, RETURN it! But if kyyjamie is indeed an employee, she shouldn't tell them that she tried to resell it on ebay! She'll lose her job. A bag with such an obvious mistake that can't be authetnicated isn't something she should be selling.

And kyyjamie, end that current listing for the Air Jordans and relist with your own pictures!

Hi BeenBurn, I was going by the fact that receipts from Coach Company Stores always show a discount. But I do see Employee File Copy on this one while my most recent has Customer Receipt Copy in that spot. Date is at bottom below what seller shows in photo. I posted a photo so others can see what we are referring.

I also thought that the blacked out portions were the normal discounts you see on Coach receipts. Even at a full price store, if you use a coupon or an item is on sale, it looks like that. This receipt indicates it is from an outlet, and I've never gotten an outlet receipt that didn't show a discount of some kind. If there were more than one discount, such as the 50% store-wide discount plus her employee discount, I think there should be at least two blacked out lines under each item, while I'm only seeing one.

I wonder if "employee file copy" on her receipt means that it is a receipt for something she sold at the store, not something she bought.

Yes, Whateve, that was my thinking too when I said I didn't see an employee discount, only one discount blacked out. One of the top reasons we shop at the factory stores is for a great deal by gosh! Another thought crossed my mind & I am not accusing anyone, but in this day & age one could steal a receipt photo just as easily as some sellers steal web sight photos.

Hmm. Good point. I have no idea!

@usMichigann, I know that the date is on the receipts at the bottom. My comment referred to the fact that the seller either avoided (purposely) showing the date or just did it inadvertently.

But if the item was purchased from a full-priced (boutique/mall) store, there wouldn't normally be an additional discount. Unless there's a PCE coupon, the only discount would be the employee discount. (And this receipt shows that it would have come from a mall store and not an outlet.)

That said, I have no idea what a receipt that an employee gets looks like so I don't know whether this is a receipt for a purchase (which IMO it looks like) or if it's a receipt from a sale someone else made.

@Cytheria, if you like the bag and feel comfortable enough to carry it, by all means keep it.

It's just that at this time, I don't feel comfortable authenticating it. So often, we buy items for our own use and in the event we tire of them, we decide to recoup some of our investment by reselling it. Unless more proof of a legitimate Coach mistake becomes available in the future, I wouldn't recommend trying to sell it.
