Good morning! Several reasons for concern here:
- spelling (scrtches);
- totally different bag is listed with the same creed number; as far as I know, M4N by itself is a big red flag.
- numbers don't look like the typical ones on a vintage Coach creed.

You're correct. It's fake.

It's not M4N that's the only bad part of the serial number. In fact, the whole serial, M4N-4154 is a proven fake number, NEVER on any authentic item.

Good morning, ladies! Would you please authenticate this lot (I'm confident in the kisslock)? IF you confirm my suspicions, I'd appreciate advice on next steps. Thank you once again!

Item: Hamptons hobo
Seller: csamuel1

Comments: think this is one of the letter + # serial # experiments

Correction. (I didn't realize it was a lot listing at first.) The signature bag in this lot is fake. The satin Hamptons hobo and the kisslock seem okay. The patricia (asking in next post) is fine.)
Authentic.
fake.

Authentic.

fake.

My bad - my separating the lot into separate authentications is confusing! The black bag in the lot is the Patricia a few posts up, and I included a creed pic.
Thank you!

Yeah, I figured that out after. I made several edits to the previous post!

So you only go the one fake in the lot. And great deal or not, you shouldn't have had to pay for it! I'm not sure what you can wrangle out of the seller as a partial for the 25% of the lot that was fake.

I see - got it, and thank you!
I'm over in the 'bay forum now trying to figure out how returns/partials work - first time, thankfully! If I pay return shipping, not convinced it's worth the hassle.

Thank you!
I ignore anyone stating value or rarity. I'm not buying because of perceived value, have bought enough antique furniture not to worry about that. Coach just makes lovely straightforward durable bags (they do scratch up though). Thanks for pointing out it may be so small it's useless to me. Pretty, though.
Have NO idea how you came up with list of selling prices, you are tops! Good info to consider.

Use Ebay's Advanced Search link that's usually near the top right corner of most pages and check the Completeds box. Or if you just do a standard Search, scroll down just a bit and check the Completed Listings box on the left side of the page. Items with prices in green have been Sold for that price, prices in black weren't Sold. It's a VERY useful tool when you're trying to figure out the actual market value of recent items. For instance:
search " coach (4413,gracie) "

http://www.ebay.com/sch/Womens-Handbags-Bags/169291/i.html?_from=R40&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=coach+(4413,gracie)

Coach made two bigger styles with the same shape as Madison Gracie, the Copley and the Biltmore.

If the seller, csamuel1 is smart, she'll tell you to dump the fake and will just give a fair partial. For SNAD, it's the seller's responsibility to cover return shipping when they want the item back. But since this item can't be resold anyway, it's a waste of time and money to take it back.

Hyacinth and whateve,
Whoa, I see, lots of Gracies.
None of that would probably ever have occured to me (well, maybe, eventually).
Hey thanks for more brochure pics, those are a lot of fun to see. I have read all Hyacinth's articles on ebay and they were very enlightening!
Missed out on the Royalton, dang it, waited too long and I knew better.
All's not lost, I'll look for a Copley! .
