Happy holidays ladies! Could you please kindly authenticate this COACH bag?

Item: Vintage COACH Stewardess 9525, made in NYC
Item Number: 262750623407
Seller: Andromeda_Collections

Comment: I recently sold this bag, but the buyer is questioning the authenticity of this bag (because of the crooked registration numbers on the creed). If you could please kindly authenticate this bag, that would be greatly appreciated. I'll direct the buyer to the PurseForum page once the authentication is completed. Thank you in advance for your expertise! Best wishes for the new year!
The creed is fine. The bag is authentic. The numbers were stamped separately from the creeds so they won't necessarily line up. I'm curious about the two-tone. I've seen other bags that were unintentionally two-tone but never a stewardess. Did you use any kind of colorant or dye on it?

You might also want to send her the link to the "Coach Serial Numbers Guide" from the six Salearea Coach Guides posted at Ebay several years ago.
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Coach-Serial-Numbers-the-Basic-Facts-/10000000034886433/g.html

The Guide states "Up until the end of the 1990s, the serial numbers were mostly hand-stamped using a mechanism that allowed the operator to change numbers quickly, and often in early Coaches you can see the top or bottom of the next number in line above or below the actual serial number. And rarely the dash between the two halves was skipped over and a string of 8 numbers would be stamped. Neither of these production glitches means that the bag is a fake, and neither did numbers that were off-center, angled, or bumping into the border of the creed statement. Contrary to what all too many “guides” say, early Coaches were NOT perfect and uneven numbers are NOT always signs of a fake. But they still need to be checked by an expert since the same things can be found in fakes."

Thank you Whateve and Hyacinth for your authentication! I will definitely direct the buyer to this page.

As regarding the two-tone, I believe that whomever was making it at the time just decided to use a strap stock that was of a different color. The body and binding of the bag were redyed to match the color(s) provided by the strap. The strap itself was merely conditioned.

Second one...thanks!

In answer to your question, @K.E.W. , I'd like to comment.

Many sellers do know exactly what they're peddling and purposely avoid showing the important details that help educated buyers and authenticators assess the bags. But other sellers, beadalooo among them, IMO, think they know enough about the brand to do their own authenticating. in fact beadalooo sells enough Coach that she should learn to authenticate or learn where to go for help because she's listed and had fakes reported and removed at least 3 prior times in the past!

ETA: GMTA! Hyacinth beat me!

Thank you, ladies, for all the behind the scenes info on authentication! I know where to turn to for any questions about pre-owned bags from E-bay.

Would you kindly authenticate these 2 anchor cousins? Thank you [emoji846]

Both are genuine.

It seems like quite a few smaller bags started off life with thin double straps, this could be another example. Wait for more information.

When I saw your posting, the style looked familiar. So I went to look in the shop for what I too had always thought was a mocha colored early version #9620 Compact Pouch (with a removable double-strand spaghetti strap plus dog-leash fittings) similar to the one you show. I found it stored in a bin that also contained a couple of "traditional" NYC-made Compact Pouch bags. This enabled me to do a quick side-by-side comparison. And interestingly enough, the version I have with the removable strap is about 1/2" shorter and a similar amount narrower in width than the #9620.

So perhaps this style is a pre-cursor to the later produced #9620 and had its own style number? I don't really know. It wouldn't be the first time a design concept evolved. For example there's the bag from the cartouche imprint era of the early 1970s (with the grommet hole attached removable double-stand spaghetti strap) that appears to be a pre-cursor to the later released popular #9375 Dinky. I've never seen a reference to that particular bag's style number, so cannot report if it was unique from the later Dinky or not. And since there have been several instances where the design of a stye has changed, but the stye number has remained static (like the #9085 Duffle Sac which went through at least two design changes (that I know of) before the one everyone's familiar with emerged in the late 1970s), one can perhaps only wonder.

Happy Holidays!!! I have been in love with the Coach 9870 style bag and came across this listing on Poshmark. Would you please authenticate for me? Thanks a bunch!!!

Thank you so much, @Hyacinth !

Thank you, too, RLB, for your comparisons and thoughts. As soon as I read your post I raced downstairs to do my own comparison, and replicated your size difference findings using a traditional #9620 (xxxx-xxx serial #, not NYC): it is exactly 1/2" wider/taller than the removable dogleash clip version. So interesting!
Coincidentally, I recently referred to your 'early Dinky' pics/discussion while asking about a similar ebay listing. Thanks for sharing those, too!
