Do you have a picture of the tag? Are there any tags inside the pocket? Other than the hangtag, is there anything attached to the bag that says "Coach?" I don't recognize the style.
I will try to get the woman to take a pic of the tag inside. There is no other coach things except for the inside tag inside that I believe is clear plastic that says made in vietnam I had another Coach swingpack with the same tag.

Depending on when it was made there should be another small white tag buried all the way inside one of the inside pockets, probably the biggest one. Often you either have to feel for it or turn the pocket inside-out to find it, assuming it has one. I think Swingpacks had that second tag too if they were made after mid-2014. The style number and plant codes are on that tag. Without anything else to indicate that it's a Coach, I can understand why a buyer who's not familiar with Coach's ways of labeling their products might think it wasn't genuine. Do you remember when you bought it, and from where? A receipt from a Coach store wouldn't prove it was genuine but at least it would show the style number and name .

Those tags should always be photographed and posted in the listing by the seller. Since your buyer already has the bag you may have a hard time convincing her to look for that second tag with the style number and codes. I'd also be curious to see a photo of the "male" part of the magnetic snap, although those are made by an outside manufacturer I've never seen a fake yet with the correct brand name and markings. Having a valid maker's stamp would help your case, but without some kind of additional proof inside the bag that it was actually made by Coach you'll have a hard time proving your case to Ebay's and your customer's satisfaction, assuming she actually IS convinced it's fake and isn't just trying to get a free or reduced-price bag.

Good luck.

Thanks so much for all the information. I really appreciate it. I will try and get her to see if she can find the hidden tag. Even if she won't and sends it back this information will help me in the future.

Hello Ladies. I have a bag that I sold that someone is questioning Authenticity on. I used to Authenticate in the GUCCI thread(vintage Gucci). The woman that bought this COACH from me won't take the time to post the auction but I was just wondering if I could share the link for you all to look at or is that not allowed? Thanks in advance. Either way, I appreciate the input.

I'm sorry this has happened to you. You can post the link to your item, as long as it isn't active.

Thank you so much. The inside of the bag has a tag made in Vietnam It does not have a creed but I know a lot of swingpacks dont have one.

(I couldn't sit on my hands. *wink*)
Please refer your buyer to this post.

The bag is authentic. It's style 51286, Charlie leather Anderson crossbody bag. The color of the bag you sold is saddle.

The following are Coach's stock images.

The bag is authentic. I believe the strap and hang tag are replacements. It's not a Dinky, it's a Shoulder Purse #9385. Here's a catalog pic from the early 1980s:

Thanks for your reply Catbird9. Ohh no wonder I thought the straps look abit off. The original strap looked much better suited for the bag. Thanks for the info too. Was thinking to give this a miss since the strap's not an original one.

Hello all Authenticators
I recently picked up a Willis bag with creed H5U-9927 and the creed patch has the factory bullet mark.
I have 2 questions, is U the plant code for Hungary? and the hangtag bothers me, here is a pic of both sides of the tag.
everything else feels and looks good to me but that tag looks wrong.
Thanks

The hangtag could have been changed or replaced. There have been dozens of changes just to the leather hangtags over the years and I don't keep a library of them because unless I've bought the bag myself directly from Coach, there's no real way to PROVE that any hangtag is genuine. So far the only ones I have in my own personal "Bag-O-Hangtags" with the impressed outer edge have been from mid-1990s bags from the Sonoma or Sheridan collections, but that doesn't prove anything.

There's no way to prove your bag is genuine without photos either, there's more than one way for a fake to end up with an outlet stamp whether the stamp itself is real or not. And yes, U is the code for Hungary.
