Please confirm this is fake:

seller: goldielox1017
Item: Coach Dog Keychain & Charms Paw Hydrant Bone Hang Tag 92114
Number: 162249119887

It looks very yellowed, the cartouche on hydrant looks wrong, and the Cs on the bone are wrong, but the enameling seems pretty smooth.
Consider it confirmed. But this is a pretty close fake. There are problems with the backs of 2 of the charms too.

Hello ladies, could you please authenticate this item for me?

Item: Vintage 70s Coach Zippered Clutch, Basic Bag, 9445, Tan, Made in NYC

Comments: I recently sold this item, but the buyer is questioning the authenticity of this bag. If you could please authenticate this bag, I would greatly appreciate it. I will refer the buyer to this page once the authentication is completed. Thank you for your expertise.

Did your buyer say WHY she's questioning it? It's easier to explain why something's authentic when we know what the concerns are, since often those accusations are made because of outdated or just plain wrong information from some worthless online "authenticity guide", or advice from someone who doesn't have any knowledge or experience with vintage Coaches. I've ranted and raved about that kind of misinformation for 10 years already.

There's nothing about that bag that would make me think it's fake. It's a genuine Basic Bag style 9455 (the number in your listing isn't exactly right), made some time between the late 1970s to mid-1980s, they're almost impossible to date exactly. The strap may have been replaced, that often happened with vintage bags but there's no way to tell from the photos. It looks just like it should look.

I agree, the bag pictured in the listing is absolutely authentic. I don't see any problems with the strap.

Here's another that isn't obvious. Did they ever make this fob with a plain, rather than jeweled, peace symbol? The enameling isn't too bad.

No, especially not with the same basic charms.

The Font used in the pink hangtag isn't any of the ones Coach uses and the lettering is higher than the surface of the enamel, the stripe colors on the "Legacy" heart aren't any combination of Legacy stripe colors Coach ever made, the back of the large hangtag doesn't have the Made In China stamp, you can tell just by comparing the chains how flimsy the fake's is and that it's made of cheap "mystery metal", and the link connecting the chain to the keyring itself is thin and cheap - that link should almost always be THICKER than all the others. On a few recent keychains it may be almost the same thickness as the others but it's never smaller. FAKE

Compare just those details:

Thanks. I'm not sure I ever looked specifically at that link before. Now I have another thing to check.

:eek:And it sold....
Sorry for the trouble!
There's nothing odd about the seller being new but both this listing and the back pack she also sold are styles that are highly faked and the listings have horrible (as in lacking) pictures, distant and blurry and little in the way of descriptions!

I sure hope those buyers get the real deal.

Me too.
I don't really like to spend money without having a little more confidence in the item either way.
Thanks for checking it out anyway!

Hi all! I was wondering about the Coach Daypacks (9960) that this shop on Rakuten has. Do you all think this is authentic?

Item: Coach Daypack
Seller: Callum shop

I'm also quite curious about this color of the Dayback that this Rakuten shop has:

Comment: Would be a gorgeous color if authentic!

Thanks all for your help!

They're both genuine and it looks like both are from 1996. I don't know why the seller is calling them Alesas but they're Daypacks.

Keep in mind that the Daypack is one of the smaller backpacks, Coach gives its measurements as 7 1/4 x 9 1/2 x 5

Yep, it's another one of those small details that the fakers usually get wrong. Most of the fakes have links including the top link that looks as if they were 99 cents for a bag of 100 in a craft or hardware store. The hangtag font is important too, if it's not exactly the same font as the ones Coach has trademarked and used on their other items, that's a red flag. Pay special attention to the "A"s and "H"s and the shape of the "C"s including the serif. The one on the pink hangtag is a generic font that we see over and over again on fakes.
