Hi all!

I am new here and hoping to get some help. I found this bag when I was out thrifting yesterday. I know how to determine high quality clothing by looking at the construction, quality of the textile, etc. but I am way out of my depth where handbags are concerned. I thought the stitching looked nice on this bag, the hardware feels nice and weighty. It has the made in China tag inside. No red flags pop out at me construction- or quality-wise, but am I missing something? Is this authentic, or is it a fake? When would it have been made if it is real? Thanks in advance!
I don't know if it's authentic or not, but I love it!

I've wanted a Brahmin for decades but had never been able to afford one. I finally bought one at a thrift store even though I wasn't sure it was real (it is my favorite color and a price I could afford so I took a chance). Is it authentic? It's heavy, Brahmin is on some of the hardware and the liner (it feels like suede). But the emblem on the outside is oval instead of rectangular and the zipper pull is different. It has a lot of outside wear and ink stains on the liner. It's pink but it looks orange in the pictures. There are no tags anywhere inside. I pulled the liner out of the purse and don't even see where one was cut out. So did I waste on money or do I finally have my Brahmin? Thank you.

Couple of things look off to me -

1 - the ROUND metal pieces holding the handles. It is a shape I am not familiar in seeing in Brahmins
2 - I do not notice a medallion hanging off a leather piece
3 - The oval BRAHMIN plaque on the front of the bag

Everything else looks normal. So I am WONDERING if this is a made for an outlet or made for a specific department store bag.

Thanks! I too had questioned your 2nd two things. I didn't think about the shape of the round pieces, just saw they were stamped with BRAHMIN as well as the studs on the straps (they wouldn't picture well). Is there anything else I could photograph to help with authentication?

I think you captured all of the pictures needed. I just don't have a solid answer for you -- i am not an official authenticator or anything - just someone with 30 years of buying Brahmins....

I appreciate you sharing what you know. This is my first designer (hopefully) purse. Very sad for a 53 yr old. Does someone actually look at this and authenticate or is it 'professional' amateurs such as yourself that give their very knowledgeable opinions?
I did some googling and there's some purses similar to this on auction websites and some of them say the style is medium Alden. One had a department price tag but I can't see the name of the store.
I'm going to clean it up and use the purse regardless, but I'd love to finally have a real Brahmin. Thanks again!

Without paying an official authentication service - I think you just get good opinions.
I think yours may be “real” but a made for —— Department store or Outlet version.
it is a nice bag and you’ll enjoy it. I would not worry about it and just enjoy your bag. It is cute and if you like it, go with it!
