Hi B! Look here:

The Purse Forum > Designer Forums > Louis Vuitton > Louis Vuitton Reference Library Karman's guide to removing/minimizing minor spots from vachetta!

Also, do a search for Baby Wipes (swear by them!) and Apple Guard leather cleaner. Have fun, but carve out a few hours, you will get sucked into all the info avail. :p. Let me know what NYC says, very curious!!

Hi, Brennamom! Thanks so much for all the info!!! - baby wipes!... who would have thought...??? When I find a little time, I will read and search the archives. I hope to have the time to check with NYC in the next couple of days, and will post my findings here as soon as I do.

Holy Cr*p, you guys! I don't think there are enough wipes on the planet to save this baby! Look: I'll admit, I'm good but i'm not THAT good....

This one may be beyond the pale, so to speak. And I obsess over a little darkening on a 30+ year old handbag... I have seen this style before, so if it calls out to you, there will be another.

Not really...I was up for a challenge until I saw the enormity of the task. SOOO glad I asked for close-ups! I feel bad for whoever wins this, the auction photos are slightly misleading, IMO...

You said what I wanted to--the photos in the listing don't BEGIN to show its real condition :wtf:.
You know, Boxermom, if I won the auction based on the listed photos, and then received the bag looking like it does, I'd almost be tempted to return it for refund under "not as described..." It would be a hassle and I'd probably get a neg. ding, but the auction is really misleading even with the description written out....:cursing:

IMO this bag is a no go... but the seller did send you good pics more accurately reflecting the condition... so I give her that much! Most buyers are not looking for a handbag in poor condition, and probably will not bid on this one. I love vintage, and have purchased several. I find that in many auctions (even when you specifically ask if there is anything negative of which you should be aware) the faults are under-described, and the pictures have been misleading - with regard to color, and darkening. I wonder if it is because a flash has been used when taking pictures. And old stale perfume ... ugh!

Brennamom and anyone else who is interested: I just called the NYC store, and they told me that they could only refurbish the bags that are black or dark brown. I believe that I may try your baby wipes in an inconspicuous place, after all... or just live with it.

This really makes it even more important to be certain that the condition is something with which you are comfortable, especially some of the more fantastic colors... which we all love. What will happen to my newer bags when they need a little TLC???

True, she was very forthcoming with pictures, that's why I said if I won just based on the pictures in the auction, I'd be bummed big time. I still feel bad for the poor little bag, but now I feel worse for the one bid that's on it now :crybaby:
