It is definitely authentic, and I would say from around 2000 for 2 reasons. The second pocket for cell phones is something not seen in earlier (pre-mid 90's) production, but more important the small, subtle branding on the exterior metalwork, which was typical of Giles Deacon designs. He was only there from 2000 until June of 2001 when Tomas Maier took over. IMO, a nice, recent vintage piece!
Thanks everyone, you all know so much.

^^Both look good to me, jennot! May be you could ask the seller of the second one to provide pics of the inside tag? But the font looks even clearer than the first one!

Baggiana, I actually don`t know if BV provided treatment service for vintage pieces, but I would just give it a shot and call one of the bigger stores! They can definitely help you further.

And I so didn`t know, Giles Deacon used to do Bv designs, even if only for a short term. Here, I learn something new every day!

nanrao, the wallet looks okay to me, although clearer pics would be much appreciated.

Brennamom, I don`t know what to tell you. Could most likely be authentic, but isn`t it in a truly desperate state? On the other hand, if you get it as low as it starts, it`s really cheap and the ink stains look as if only on the inside.

Thanks Claus! I'm a sucker for vintage, distresses bags if they can be rehabed. I like the challenge, but I'm realistic too. I've asked for pictures of the strap and the worst of the soiling. You are correct, if the price is right, it might be worth the effort to bring it back. I'll keep you posted

I believe it's a real BV, but you must really enjoy challenges, Brennamom! It looks like a toddler drew on the interior of that bag with a pen!

Better the inside than out. Actually, from hanging with the LV kids, I've learned some amazing restoration techniques....it's fun to put them into practice when the price is right. If I get it, I'll do a little before/after thread ...

WOW, Brennamom!!! Direction please!!! I would love to see the before and after thread, and wouldn't mind giving some of these techniques a try... Where do I find the restoration techniques on the LV forums???

C_24, I will call the NYC store and see what they have to say about restoration, otherwise, maybe I can try a little DIY. I so hope that Brennamom gets this bag!!!

I'm not an expert on Cabats, but the weave does look different for some reason. I don't understand a seller with such a high end bag not providing clear pics of both the metal name plate (or heat stamp in other styles) and the authenticity tag. She probably didn't bother responding to you because the bidding is fairly high even without those pics. I think it's disrespectful to potential buyers to not include the essential photos or supply them when requested.

Many thanx Boxermom for support and that the seller is not sending additional pic (close ups) for me it is a confirmation that it is definitely something wrong with that bag. All the best
