(Sorry - this was also posted in "What do BV Tags Mean", but I am also posting this here as I am concerned that my Camel Veneta may be a fake)

The serial number of my Camel Veneta is as follows:-

115654 V0013 2640
EPEV 2007 673 A

However, I noted down that Cutiekiara's Large Camel Veneta has a serial number slightly different from mine, in that instead of 673 A, Cutiekiara's has 431 B (the rest of the numbers are completely similar)

The bag looks authentic to me (I have been to enough BV shops IRL to know that this is not an outright fake), but one or two strips of the Camel nappa are slightly darker than the rest of the bag (in other words, the nappa is not completely uniform in color). Could owners of Camel Venetas or other models comment please?

Could my bag be a fake in view of the incorrect serial number?

Is it normal for 2 exactly similar Venetas of the same size and same color to have different codes for the last 3 digits and alphabet?

I don't think anyone has quite figured out what those last few numbers/digits on the second line mean. Given their proximity to the year (which only seemed to have appeared on the labels in 2007) I wonder if they have something to do with place/date/time of manufacture or something similar. All the operative style, leather and colour codes (all on the first line) check out and therefore I wouldn't stress about these numbers on the second line which no one has yet figured out. And leather is a natural product and therefore there will be variations in it. Trust me after my recent experience with a fake - if you have ever seen and touched a real BV it is going to be absolutely obvious from the look, feel (and in my case smell) of a fake that that is what it is. I really don't think from your description that this is one...

Thanks BookerMoose! Comforting words for me indeed. Sorry about your experience with the fiasco bag - hope it gets sorted soon!

Not sure if this is authentic. Hope to get some expert opinion, thanks!

The veneta looks authentic. Its a medium veneta, not sure of the colour. But the overall weave quality as well as the inside of it looks ok. It would be great if the seller can also provide a pic of the tag. Plus it comes with dust cover, mirror and card (though not shown in the photos). Seller looks legit too, with over 1300 positive feedback, and only 3 negative.

My 2 cents...

The seller of the first bag, ******, is known as a reputable seller of authentic goods. As for the second (gold) bag, looks fake to me and isoldit is not a reputable seller when it comes to other high end bags. I would ask for a lot of photos and be verycareful. Not sure about the Sloane; the looseness of the weaving on the bottom and the very low start price would make me very cautious.

mistikat, that Sloane looks fake to me also. The loose weave as you noticed doesn't look like BV craftsmanship and the font looks bad, too. Only 3 feedback gives me little confidence that this is real.

I have been checking the bags at ioffer and it's not a bad idea to do so if you are thinking of buying on Ebay from an unknown seller or if there are red flags. I was pretty shocked to see the club stripe milano Montaigne in both the brown and red colourways. It looks reasonable unless you've seen or have the real bag (for instance, on the real one, the bottom is a solid weave of the darker colour but on the fake, the stripes go all the way round the bag, like they cut from a solid piece and sewed just the sides). But if I'd seen it on Ebay, I wouldn't have thought this rather limited design was being knocked off. Go figure!
