It is lucky for you that this Ebano brown (the code indicates the color, and this one is "Ebano", a brown that Bottega Veneta does the very best) bag is authentic.

The Knot appears to be authentic, but I cannot be sure, since I am unfamiliar with all the aspects of Knot authentication. Hopefully, someone with more experience will chime in.

Certainly, Miss Kitty - (couldn't resist) - 2011/2012 right before the change was made to one row of numbers. Your bag was created 2012/2013.

The one row of numbers identifies who made the bag, along with some other info of which we are not privy (but I'll be that we will be sometime in the future - our members are really savvy when it comes to ferreting out information we need ...)

I read through a few threads and its really informative.

Bought this BV wallet from ebay recently and would like to verify its authenticity. Looks authentic to me but it has this fake leather smell to it.

Appreciate some expert advice.

I don't think this wallet is authentic. Nero is black and the wallet does not look black. Additionally, the tags do not look authentic (from the link)

If you expected to buy a brown wallet, then that's OK, because the pictures are clearly of a brown wallet (and the label code is correct for brown) - but description says this is a black wallet (nero is black). The label is missing some ink, for heaven's sake, and the heat stamp is crooked. Combined with your idea of the smell being a 'fake' smell, I'd say this wasn't authentic.
