I don't think this wallet is authentic. Nero is black and the wallet does not look black. Additionally, the tags do not look authentic (from the link)

If you expected to buy a brown wallet, then that's OK, because the pictures are clearly of a brown wallet (and the label code is correct for brown) - but description says this is a black wallet (nero is black). The label is missing some ink, for heaven's sake, and the heat stamp is crooked. Combined with your idea of the smell being a 'fake' smell, I'd say this wasn't authentic.

Thanks for the reply. Seller insist its authentic but will fight for it. Thanks heap.

Ah, so sorry I was blind on this one - that pull doesn't quite look right, and the fact that it has no label - and the way it's put together, those three things make me feel this is suspect, at best.

Before I posted my request for authentication, I started reading this thread at page 600, hoping to learn a bit about BV. I went back again this morning and found 3 posts (600, 609 and 611) by boxermom indicating that many older/vintage bags didn't have tags, just the gold-tone plaque. I understand she has since taken a hiatus. Also I failed to photograph the magnetic snap. It's imprinted TOHPO PAT. 1431505, if this has any bearing.

The zipper pull may indeed be the key. I found a thread about BV zipper pulls (with example photos by boxermom) and mine is different and has no maker's marks :(

Thanks again for everyone's time and input.

Dear Expert,

I am in trouble. BV potion strikes me in a big way. I just bought large veneta 2 days ago and now inclining to acquire one more sloane right away !!

Could you be so kind to authenticate this bag for me? I know Brandoff is quite established but they do buy 2nd hand bags from customer and resell it. So, just wanna be sure.

Also, do you know what color is this? Seller said it's from year 2010, thanks a ton!

Note : Adding more photos of Logo, Zipper and authenticity tag. Thank you very much!

Sorry, JOODLZ. For what it's worth, it wasn't just the pulls that seemed off to me.

Thanks for the new photos. From these, it seems authentic to me, in the color chene.

:ty: sooooo very much for your fast reply, Blueiris. And whewwww...... :p

I bought the bag from HK Brandoff shop already yesterday. I really love it and this peace of mind means a lot to me.

I am also a fan of this purseforum community now. You all are so kind, helpful and friendly !

Can someone authenticate this bag for me?
I'm brand new to Bottega Veneta and I've been reading this thread for days.
I found this bag at a local thrift store. It's approx. 8.5"w x 8.5"h x 4"d. Strap drop to "suspenders" 19"
Is it vintage? The metal name plaque is the only identification inside the bag.
Is there a name for this type of embossed leather?
Does this bag have a name? Date of manufacture? Color name?
I would greatly appreciate any info anyone can give. I can supply additional photos if needed.
Thanks in advance!
Hi, I only log into forum once a week or two, but this is authentic vintage. I don't have a color name and I don't think it has a style name. No worries! Everything looks great!

I don't check in very often, but I agree with Miss_FancyBags---this is authentic vintage. As IndiaInk said in an earlier reply, the embossed material is the same as the Marco Polo collection, which was so popular. It's probably from the 1990's, but I don't know a color name or style name. This type of zipper pull is common in the vintage bags--I have a few with this same style pull.

I'd say you found a great deal in the thrift shop! Great color, too.

I can't say "Thank You" enough to everyone here for solving this mystery! While I've been a Coach collector for many years, this bag just looked too special to not be authentic. Considering I paid $1 at a Goodwill Bargain Barn makes it even more so :) It's my first BV, hopefully not my last! And for boxermom...I'm thrilled you "checked in" just in time for me, as I learned so much from your earlier posts before you went on hiatus... 'til next time...thanks again!

Thanks so much for checking in, Miss Fancy Bags and boxermom! I think this is my cue to stop opining on vintage items. I'm so pleased that it worked out for JOODLZ!

And JOODLZ, I think it's safe to say that you have a good eye to have rescued it form Goodwill. There's definitely an advantage to seeing and feeling the item in real life, as opposed to photos.

blueiris - Thanks for your note! Keeping track of the details about every bag is a nearly insurmountable task IMHO. Trying to apply that knowledge to a 2D photo is something else again...heroic at the very least! Each and every authenticator I've come into contact with here brings their own special knowledge and areas of expertise...I'm grateful for their generosity in volunteering their time to help us all. And yes, seeing and feeling my bag certainly helped me decide to buy it and I'm glad I did.

Another great score! Congrats! This is a beautiful bag!
I'd love to know how you're going to rehab her.
