Dear Experts, please help me to authenticate the following BV bag. Thank you very much.;)

Item Name: Bottega Veneta Chene Intrecciato Leather Small Hobo Bag
Listing number: 270718942364
Seller name or ID: sara949bidder
Working Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270718942364&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Hi, this looks like an authentic vintage BV...please note that what seller is saying is that this is the discontinued small size between the mini and the medium :smile1:

Oh - it's not chene...not sure the color name...maybe Boxermom knows it!

Can't come up with it but *sand* might be in there somewhere. I'd love a complete list of Italian color shade names.

Dear Miss_FancyBags, thank you very much for your help. Is it appropriate to ask you what is the reasonable price for that bag since it is a discontinued small size bag? Thank you.:p

Dear boxermom, thank you very much for your help. So it is 100% an authentic BV bag, right?! Is it appropriate to ask you what is the reasonable price for that bag since it is a discontinued small size bag? (I've just now ask Miss_FancyBags a same question since saying thank you to you both the same time now.) If it is not a appropriate question, please feel free to discard the question, and feel free to let me know as well. Thank you very much. :p

Hi, I think it depends upon how badly you want that particular bag. The small size doesn't come up often if that's a key factor for you.

I've often seen a bag that I've been waiting for appear on ebay and I've paid more than I should have just to finally get that bag!

Any great condition woven leather BV under $500 is probably not a bad deal in my opinion if you love the bag (and she takes offers...) :smile1:

Dear Miss_FancyBags, thank you very very much. You have been so helpful. Thank you again. :D

IMO this is not a bad price for a bag that is relatively rare and in pretty good condition. Seller disclosed a couple of pen marks, but the lining looks fairly good. I've damaged my bag linings in much less time if I'm careless.

As Miss_Fancy said, it all depends on how much you want it. If I really want something that I don't think will come along again soon or ever, I'll pay what it takes (within reason).

Dear boxermom, thank you so very much. You and Miss_Fancyare so helpful and the best. Thank you very much again.:smile1:

I'll be visiting grandkids in VA this weekend; probably won't be back before Tuesday sometime. I'll check in when I can, but it won't be as often as when I'm at home.

Several members here can offer accurate authentication opinions, so I'm sure they will check this thread as we all do when someone is *away* for awhile.

^^This thread is so well covered that I have been a little lax and busy with work, but not to worry, I will check in at least once/day, too. Have a wonderful visit with your grandkids, boxermom!!!

This would be my very first BV!

I am not familiar with this particular bag, so I hope someone else who can give a more definitive opinion will chime in here....

From what I can see, it looks promising. I don't think it's the tea color, but I could be mistaken. It would be helpful if the seller could provide a photo of the BV imprint, which should be easily available for a photo (it's inside the bag--see post #1 for more details).

Yes, the exact issue that you mentioned has bothered me, seniorbaglady (which I am too)! I also think there should be one of those wrap-around leather strips to keep the end of the strap from *flying out*. I want to punch another hole but haven't done it yet. I've worn it as is on the shortest length crossbody but I'm only 5'5".

I do love the vintage look of the style and that it's a nice looking crossbody. I'm not fond of the messenger bag style on myself, so this style will be good; Need to get that leather punch out, though.

Hey Boxermom -

Hold the punches! I found a solution that does not require altering the original bag.... and without a long piece of leather strap flapping in the wind!

Here's what I did - I took the thin leather straps that thread through each side of the bag and pulled them inside the bag and tied a knot on each side. It took a few attempts to get the bag the length that I wanted AND get them even so both sides match.

When I want the strap to be mucho long for some reason, I can undo the knots and wahla....back to the original length.... all without altering the bag. :)

With a colorful scarf tied on one side, the bag looks terrific!

Let me know if it works for you, too.

Senior bag lady :D
