Thats why you have friends here on TPF. We would gladly cheer you on your H quota bag purchases lol
This is what I’m afraid to hear also from my friends so I pretty much won’t tell many people. Love tpf for that reason
If I were you, I'd say yes another one and there are more to come; then proceed with sharing an extensive list of what I plan to get
Never stop enjoying what you love because your circle doesn't appreciate it!
This exactly! I’ve had work colleagues comment. Usually along the lines of how many holidays they could have had. I pointed out that my birkin is 17 years old, how many bags last that long and still look that good. A holiday lasts two weeks. If that fails I point out the current resale value, if I sold it (not that I plan to) I’d have had the enjoyment from it and then made money not lost it. It’s a win win and guilt free In my book!
My grandmother taught me very young to never apologize for purchasing heavy ticket items that you love as long as you’re a good and decent human being. She once told me how my grandpa judged her for purchasing a HAC 50 in the early 70s because grandpa said a luggage shouldn’t cost that much. She said she responded by saying “Flying should not be as expensive as owning a Gulfstream.” And those 10 words marked the beginning of her love for Hermès. Never did grandpa comment on any of her Hermès indulgences too lol My point is, people spend on things they feel like spending on. It may not make sense to them but it does to you and vice versa. So you do you and don’t feel bad about your appreciation for things they don’t appreciate. Wear your Kelly’s with love!

Thank you everyone for your good words and support, love tpf members!
@Tonimichelle I totally agree with you, spending my hard-earned money on the things I love and it keeps value, there isn't much consumer products like this, for me only H.

In three years I've got... 3 comments and one obvious look. 99% of India's population has never heard of Hermes.

I had a lady stop me at the shopping centre in Delhi (my brain isn’t functioning at the moment so I can’t recall the name). She was asking me where I got my bag from in Hindi as she was dying to get the bag. luckily hubby said not from India. 5 star Delhi & Mumbai hotels are fantastic for Hermes spotting.

I live in Seattle and it's not a very fashion-conscious city so neither my Ks nor my B get much attention. I actually rarely see H bags at all unless I'm over on the Bellevue side. All of my bags are neutral (Etoupe K25, Barenia K32, Barenia K25, Noir K28, and my little Barenia Ebene B25 that I rarely carry but can't bear to part with) which likely allows them to fly under the radar even more. My natural calf Celine box gets waaaaaay more attention than all my H bags combined here and I kind of like it that way. It makes my Hermes collection feel more special, more mine, if that makes sense. We moved here from Washington, DC and my Ks and B definitely received more attention there, it wasn't really my cup of tea. While not the most fashion-y place, it's definitely more image conscious than the PNW, so until we move back to the East Coast, I'm happy to enjoy my Hermes incognito in the land of flannel and Patagonia lol

A bit off topic but so much Barenia!! It's my favourite leather; I wish it were offered more in the boutiques, I'd love to eventually own a K25 but it seems like a bit of a reach.

It's my favorite as well, my K25 is my current Holy Grail, and like the rest of my Barenia bags it came to me pre-loved. I know that's not everyone's thing, but personally I prefer it when it comes to heritage leathers. I'm hoping to find an ebene kelly one day, maybe then I can part with my last Birkin lol

Totally agree.. I came here on vacation this year and noticed that people just don’t care. It’s so refreshing. I went for two weddings and I was the only person with a designer bag. Everyone else carries locally embroidered silk bags or potlis as we call them.
i got great service in TO when I carried my Birkin to the Chanel store. It felt different to when I usually walk in.

I was once in the elevator with my SIL, we were both carrying our Birkin's that day - while we were chatting and minding our own business, a cute couple enters the elevator we were in. I noticed on the spot, how the sight of that lovely women shifted from her husbands to our bags.

Me and my SIL were speaking Italian, and probably gave the couple the impression of not being locals and not speaking German. She pointed to her husband, that she loved Hermès and also wanted a Birkin. Right after leaving the elevator, I smiled at her and replied in German: they are indeed beautiful and always great as a present! She was slightly embarrassed but happy at the same time..

Another time, I was stopped in front of Hermes by this gentleman with his daughter. He was complimenting my B30 and saying how great investments they were and that he also bought one fro his wife.

Also in Seattle and have never seen a B/K in the wild. I have received a few comments and many stares when carrying my B35, someone even asked me to hold it lol.

LOL and you reminded me that the same thing did happen to me but with a Bolide, which is under the radar but go figure. I couldn't tell if the lady knew that it was H but she was drawn to the color/leather (Rouge Vif Fjord). She was sitting right next to me in a restaurant, so, it was, awkward.

I have never seen a B or K in the wild here either...once a cashier at Trader Joes identified my B...apparently she used to be an SA at Hermès. Other than that, no one in Seattle has ever appeared to notice either of my Bs except to admire the color of my B35 which is turquoise.

The only H bag I've ever received a compliment on in the wild, meaning not in other lux stores, was ironically my Etoupe Evelyne PM and that happened in, of all places, my dentist's waiting room. It was from another patient waiting to be seen and she was as complimentary of that bag as if I were carrying a Himalayan Birkin. I was so surprised! Maybe she had never seen one in person--not sure. That moment has stayed with me over the years because she was so sweet and so complimentary, and at that time, my Evelyne was the only H bag I owned. I've never had anyone comment on my Birkin other than a lovely Sales Associate in Van Cleef and Arpels. I don't think most people in my area recognize the bag, which I really do like. I'm not sure I would feel comfortable carrying a bag that drew a lot of attention.
If I see a woman with a bag I admire, I just say a simple "I love your bag" and it always seems well-received.

The attention drawn by my Kelly wasn't from stranger but my friends. When they saw my 1st Kelly, I could feel that they were thinking like "Are you crazy buying this expensive bag?". Then when they saw another K of mine, they were like "What! Another one...."
To avoid this kind of attention from friends I've decided to limit 2 Ks to be seen by my friends, other Ks to be used when I go out by myself. It's sad and I wish I have some crazy friends using B or K.
I'll be your friend if you let me carry one when we go out ;)
