Attention Drawn by Kelly and Birkin

I live in Seattle and it's not a very fashion-conscious city so neither my Ks nor my B get much attention. I actually rarely see H bags at all unless I'm over on the Bellevue side. All of my bags are neutral (Etoupe K25, Barenia K32, Barenia K25, Noir K28, and my little Barenia Ebene B25 that I rarely carry but can't bear to part with) which likely allows them to fly under the radar even more. My natural calf Celine box gets waaaaaay more attention than all my H bags combined here and I kind of like it that way. It makes my Hermes collection feel more special, more mine, if that makes sense. We moved here from Washington, DC and my Ks and B definitely received more attention there, it wasn't really my cup of tea. While not the most fashion-y place, it's definitely more image conscious than the PNW, so until we move back to the East Coast, I'm happy to enjoy my Hermes incognito in the land of flannel and Patagonia lol
That's interesting, as I recall being somewhat surprised to see an Hermes boutique in Bellevue on a visit to Seattle in 2016. Didn't stop, was just passing on the highway. I assumed that with all the tech money there there must be a market for them.

There definitely is a market but Seattle is just such a lowkey city fashion-wise, I've only seen 3 in the past year on the Seattle side. I was so surprised that I remember each of them to a tee (Black B40 in Cap Hill, Black B25 across the street from my building downtown, and a gold B30 near Pike Place on Christmas Eve). In contrast, I saw 4 in one day in Bellevue last weekend.

Ha also in Seattle from DC (with a few other stops along the way). Ya this city does not care for its Hermes bags…I don’t even see many in Bellevue! It does make the bags a little under the radar but I do wish I saw a few more.
One time I saw a women with a roulis in the lift and I was able to chat with her about Hermes. I do miss that!

While I have a few Seattle friends who are very into fashion and designers, none care about Hermès. So I was kind of thrilled when I was in the downtown Seattle Nordstrom and the woman that was helping me identified my 24/24 and we chatted about beautiful bags! Part of the reason I end up on TPF most days

Hello loves,

Among the Kelly and the Birkin when you use them, do you feel one gets more attention than the other? I live in both the US and Asia with many trips to Europe annually. I notice the Birkin gets more attention in the US while the Kelly draws more attention in Asia and Europe. What I mean by attention is strangers looking/admiring/complimenting my bag. Is it just me with this observation or what? Lol would love to hear your thoughts!

XOXO,
HermèsGeek

Zero attention :D I feel like around here in Germany or in France, a cute little dog  will always get some attention :D Including, of course, from me :D Huh! Handbags? Nope. Not so much. Nobody cares. Honestly, why would anybody care about the stuff that you use to carry your stuff in? :D

In Germany, I guess, people pay much more attention to the car you drive ;) Since I am into bikes anyway...no attention there either :D

LOL @ the cute little dog, this is so true. I have a pair of greyhounds and I take them pretty much everywhere (fellow Seattle residents know that's the norm in these parts) and they get 1000x more attention than an Hermes bag ever would here:biggrin:

I especially love when young people appreciate beautiful leather like barenia as I always have the impression they usually like Togo and epsom. Sounds like the young lady has taste beyond her years.
I am waiting and searching for a barenia K32! I first saw one about 15 years ago and always said I would get one someday! Now that I am a new FTM of twins I deserve a gift lol

Massive congrats- as a twin Mam also, I wholeheartedly agree that you deserve a gift- or maybe two considering!!
Thank you so much! My twins are 10 weeks old now and such a blessing! I spoke to my SA about the k28 and she said she might have something soon for me. So maybe not a barenia but something in a lovely blue, green, or a verso as she knows I am privy to those choices!
congratulations! That shoulder strap on the Kelly will come in handy!
Thank you! And yes it will! I want to try out the fabric strap as well, I am such a casual person, so that will work for me!
