I wonder if it has something to do with this?

Insurance and Handling will be charged at 5% EU / 10% (US, Canada & Rest of World) for on your total purchase price at checkout. This will subsidise tax, duty, credit card fees, insurance in transit and handling.

In the unlikely event that any extra charges are requested from you at the time of import by customs or by courier at the time of delivery, please contact our Customer services Team on 01428648180 for advice with this matter.
I don't think so, because they have fees in pounds for shipping to the US, and the total cost still comes out significantly less. But I've emailed asking for an explanation, so we'll see.

So I feel kind of ridiculous about this--I just noticed on the website, if you set it to USD instead of pounds, the prices are higher than the conversion of pounds to USD. For example, the lottie is 495 pounds which is $610, but if you set the website to USD, it's listed at $700. I realize now I've probably overspent several hundred dollars with them over the last year, and I feel frustrated about it. Has anyone else noticed this? I guess I will just check out in pounds from now on.
I do business with the UK daily, and the exchange rate for the £ has gone down a lot in the last week or so. I don't think their website reflects those changes. A short while ago it was as high as $1.35 and it's now around $1.24. So you probably have not overspent that much, as the exchange rates have only recently gone down. It's still not the same as if you purchased there and got the best rate from your credit card. The thing that bothers me is they have that extra insurance and handling fee of $50 in addition to shipping, which I don't like.

It seems like it wouldn't be prohibitively difficult to just write a script for their website to display the USD price reflecting the current exchange rate...

Hi Everyone, I am truly obsessed with Aspinal and own 7 bags currently. I have moved away from Mulberry and even LV and sold a lot of bags to fund my Aspinal addiction. I am surprised that this forum does not yet have a main section for Aspinal of London. I am hoping to buy the large Lottie in the quilted black leather for my birthday. The only issue is that I am a petite 5"3 and am concerned it might swamp me. I would love to hear your thoughts on whether you think I should go with the small one instead.
Hi,
I’m obsessed with Aspinal too and own 12 of their handbags, 1 black Florence, 5x lotties - 3 large, 2 micro, 1 saddle, 4 Mayfair in large and midi and 1 trunk. I’m also 5’3 and can confirm that the large Lottie can swamp a little when worn crossbody. However, I often wear these over my shoulder or simply holding them by the chain for more of a relaxed look. I definitely recommend them, the large Lottie is my absolute fave handbag and I’m just receiving the black one in caviar leather this Wednesday in sz large. If you want to see how I style them you can look ok my insta Eva robinson Styl. Btw.When I was in London I tried the smaller Lottie and didn’t particularly like it. Didn’t look cute like the micro or impressive like the large one. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your reply and guidance regarding the large Lottie. I have had a look at your Insta page and can see the large lottie looks fabulous on you and it has made me even more tempted to get the black one for my birthday. :)
