I’m such a mess with the Aspinal bags and I don’t know why. I cannot figure out what I want. First it was the mint green in the hat box and then I felt silly getting a second mint green bag. Then I wanted the soft taupe but they don’t make it in the mini Mayfair or the hatbox. And in truth I don’t love the patent finish anyway.

Now they have produced the pink in the deep shine, both in the mini Mayfair and the Hat Box. It’s like they are listening to my complaints and trying to overcome them lol.

And yet I’m still torn. Pink is a color I have a LOT of. I don’t mind that and in fact there’s 2 more pink bags I want: Polene Huit and Valextra Iside. But then it makes the Aspinal in pink harder to justify.

Here’s my collection of bags that are similar, and the Aspinal pink in the front as a cosmetic pouch. With this, would you go for the mini Mayfair in the pink, or the Hat Box? Or neither?

The three in the back are basically nude pink, and very different from the ones in front.

The Mansur Gavriel and the Aspinal pinks look pretty similar in these photos, but in person I find them pretty different. The Mansur Gavriel is more of a bubblegum pink whereas the Aspinal is a muted cherry blossom pink.

This mod shot of the MG might help clarify that it’s overall more jewel toned.

So the heartbreaking thing for the mini mayfair, for me, is the size. It will not fit a lot of cell phones. Mine is 6.25 inches and won't fit, I think you'd have to really squeeze to get a 6' one in (hehehe). If you're only going between those two I'd go for the hat box, because it also adds more shape/style variety to your collection. It's a novelty bag and would be so cute for spring days out. That being said, the mayfair is so classic and if you foresee using it for anything more businessy/formal, the look is probably more compatible with that than the hat box. Just one woman's opinions! Can't go wrong, really. They're all GREAT.

My phone is 5.5” so I think it would fit in the mini Mayfair. I like the look of the bag in the pink a lot but fundamentally I have a lot of the ‘triangular top handle’ sort of bag and obv a lot of pink bags. I suspect I should go for the hat box… the right mini Mayfair will eventually come along.

Thinking about a Lottie bag (regular size) , either black pebble or navy quilted, but worried that it might be too long on me when worn crossbody (5ft3).
I think it will be fine. I’m the same height. Here is my navy quilted regular worn crossbody to show how it lies.

I think it works well this way or doubled over the shoulder.

Thank you, your Lottie looks great on you. The crossbody length looks perfect, I want to be able to wear it both as a shoulder bag and a crossbody. Again, thank you .

As much as I love Aspinal, these prices are ridiculous for fake leather. It’s become so trendy for brands to market pleather as ‘vegan leather’ recently and I don’t know how people buy it for the same price as real leather  4BBCC3B9-5990-465D-A3FC-6F587A05F646.jpeg

AFAIK it's not cheap to produce, and it also devalues the brand to have "cheap" options. Idk why people pay $4000 for Celine bags when the leather quality isn't 5x the quality of aspinal bags--luxury good prices don't always fully reflect the material's value.

I understand this - but it is surely cheaper to produce than leather? I'm not suggesting they sell them for $50... but it's a bit like when a brand sell a bag made of canvas or velvet, it's usually cheaper than the leather alternative, even if it is just by $50-100 or so...

Aspinal have extremely good ethics......

A person can choose to spend their money how and where they like, of course, but for those who wish to support a company that continuously strives to upgrade itself in every way, including materials, Aspinal is hard to beat.

As a contrast, for example, many of the LV bags are canvas, expensive, and extremely uninspiring in their design and brownness. Aspinal is a jewel box of colours and style, either in leather, or non-leather alternatives.

Yes I love Aspinal  I have been open about my love for them as a brand and their products on this thread. If you look at LV's canvas bags, they are considerably cheaper than their leather bags, which is the point I was making. I was just shocked that a cheaper material (a leather alternative) was commanding the same price as leather.

Agreed, they have lovely products!

I wonder if the leather alternative may become a little cheaper in future in view of the initial costs to start processing it may be absorbed as more items sell? I think the investigation and trial runs etc are time consuming and costly but, with you, I applaud their direction.

Hopefully so! It seems that they are trialling it with a few lines at first. Luckily, it seems to be very eco friendly and is biodegradable - so it is a major plus that it isn’t made of plastic! :flowers: I would be interested to see how it holds up over time.

A sales rep told me a new leather was coming for the Mayfair this summer. I was hoping it was an alternative to croc but I'm guessing this is it.
