OKay, I'd like to share what my thoughts are about the two brands of Argan oil I am trying.
1. Kiehls -- I bought the large bottle. It is not 100% argan oil. It is a mix of olive fruit oil, apricot kernel oil, and some other chemicals (probably preservatives). I asked the SA about how many % is the argan oil. The SA's called the flagship store and told me it's a rather high percentage, but they are not allowed to tell me the exact percentage. I thought it was a bit shady, but anyway, maybe it is their proprietary info. When I read the ingredient list, argan oil is listed on the 7th or so. On the label, it says you can apply it to your face, skin, and hair. I've tried to use it on my hair and it works well. On my face... not so much. Although it doesn't break me out, it makes me feel greasy and look way shiny (I used very very little amount).
2. Josie Maran -- I got a sample from Sephora. It is 100% argan oil. I am not sure if it has other chemicals because I didn't really read the label when I was in the store (how dumb). It is a fantastic moisturizer on the face (though I haven't tried it on my hair). It doesn't make me feel greasy or shiny. I normally wake up in the morning looking a bit shiny but on the nights I used Josie Maran's argan oil,I have this nice glow on my face. I also got a sample of the tinted moisturizer. Let me tell you, it is AWESOME! It has spf30 and doesn't feel greasy at all. It actually make my face matte and blends beautifully. I have super oily skin and by the afternoon time, I am very shiny everywhere, and on the days I used the tinted moisturizer, I only got a little shiny after 8pm. I am so impressed by the quality. It's kinda expensive, but I really think it's worth it for me.
Bottom line: I am going to try out for a few more weeks to decide whether I have to take the Kiehl's argan oil back. It's much cheaper than Josie Maran's argan oil, but then again, Kiehl's is not 100% argan oil.
Please share if you have any personal experience about the argan oil. If you can specify the brand you've used, or currently trying, that would really help me (and hopefully other tPF'ers out. Thank you!!
