Are There Any Handbags NOT Made In China?

So is there no hope :confused1: I'm also looking for an American designer to get into. Someone mentioned earlier that some designer's bags said "made in brooklyn NY", I would love that as I was born and raised there. It hit me with Coach when my sister told me she STILL has all the all leather coach bags I gave her over 13 years ago and they still look pristine. All of a sudden I was very disappointed in my "made in china" signature stuff. How can they charge more now for less leather, I don't get it? so I won't be buying any more coach. No offense to anyone who still loves the brand, just a personal preference for me, plus my style is changing now that I'm getting older. I want to have my own style versus being a "brand sheep". I don't want to wear logos anymore either, ok I'll stop rambling.

isnt botkier made in brooklyn?

^ It could also mean "Made in France", "Made in Italy", etc. Imported simply means that it has come from outside the US (or whichever country the store is based in), and does not necessarily mean it was made in a country with low labour costs.

I disagree. If it's imported from France or Italy, it always says that. I've never seen a site selling French or Italian bags that does not say that. "Imported" as a label for handbags does mean production in China and other low-labor-cost countries.

yes I agree whenever I see "imported" it usually means indonesia, china, india, not Italy or France where they would want to emphasize that it was actually made in those places. Imported is a euphemism

Without denial majority of products in consumer market is Made In China or have certain parts fabricated in china, almost 70% or more. Made In Italy, Made In France, Made In Spain, also will have certain raw material that come from China. In every home, i am sure you can find alot of consumer goods that are Made In China. Sad to say, China not only have cheap labour but lots of good natural resources.

Made In China also does not necessarily means it is not of good quality. Usually as long as quality is stringent & assured during production process, it is ok. Recently, even Burberry has some of their stuffs "Made In China". Calvin Klein, Micheal Kors, Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, Coach & many more also "Made In China". What you pay is what you get, you pay peanut, you get monkey. I rather buy "Made In China" product rather than those "Made In Indonesia", "Made In Vietnam" or "Made In India", at least quality wise it is better.

Of coz if i am paying a few grands for a bag i will still expect it to be Made In Italy, Made In France or Made In Spain...haha If it is just a few hundreds, "Made In China" or anywhere else it is still ok. If you are paying a considerable price for a bag even it is Made In China, quality is still good as the raw material (such as zippers, hardwares, leather etc.) used are the same quality as those Made In Italy, so no worries. If every fashion piece got to be Made In Italy, they will cost at least twice or more than what it is retailing for now, it will only make people who want them hard to afford to get them. Made In China assured these medium or lower range designer labels pricing can be more affordable for the masses. Luxury comes with a price, not everyone can afford it. Even for Coach products, they are quite affordable in term of price but they are also people who will not buy them or able to afford to buy them.

Luxury goods is a "WANT" not a "NEED" targeting a specific consumer market with higher spending power not mass market. People who "WANT" them will still buy & spend irregardless the price.

Clever Carriage are handmade right here in the USA. HSN sells them but have also seen on ebay. They are expensive though. I own 2 of these handbags and am very happy with the quality. It is hard to believe so few handbags are made in the USA.

Be&D and I love their bags, the Garbo is amazing.
I once lost a stud and they fixed it free of charge.
Production takes place in NY and Italy.
I have seen their handbags at Loehmanns and Ebay has some.
