This is really starting to bother me..Coach uses cheap labor now & most all of our US brands have opted to manufacture in countries that provide cheap labor, rather than pay a decent wage for work.

I think this shift (not just handbags) it's a big reason we are in a recession.

I would like to support made in the USA bags, but can't seem to be able to find a list anywhere.

As it is now, I would rather spend my money on a bag made the US (or even in Europe) than support so called US companies that have farmed out labor to China.

Any suggestions?

I was soooo gonna start a thread on this!! I totally agree with you. It seems that 90% of any goods are made in other countrys. I am all for this! It would be nice to find a good quality bag made in the USA.

Tylie Malibu is made in the US. So are Harveys Seat Belt bags.

The Michael Kors bags I have seen are all made in CHINA.

I did do a title search last night on handbags made in the US, I don't know why this didn't come up?

It seems like some designers started out manufacturing here, but have gone over to China to assemble now to save money.

This might be harder to weed through than I thought.

Ananas in Brooklyn.
Calleen Cordero in LA.
Pollux Handmade in NYC.

I know what you mean. I feel like outsourcing is a huge part of our recession as well and impossible to reverse. Why/how would these companies go from paying people like $2 dollars a day which is what a lot of these people in other countries make to paying normal at leas minimum wages in the us ? I think with the recession now many people would take these jobs but they are just unavailable. I was dissapointed that my new Cole Haan bag was made in India. I think a big part of the reason why I feel so resentful is that these companies like Cole Haan and Coach had built their reputation as a classic historic USA brand that makes their stuff in China and India ?

Or is this a lower grade Michael Kors bag and not his top of the line? I am not familiar with these bags
