Are there any David Yurman fans here?

Ooh! Can you post pics? I am thinking of venturing into yellow gold and found myself liking his designs, but I wish they would show modeling pics for proportion on their website...

I'll start off by saying I'm not a huge David YURMAN fan but I do think some pieces are very pretty. About 4 years ago I got the large Abilene(sp?)ring in diamond pave and kiss(x)earrings, also in diamond. The earring's would be daily fav's, especially cuz I have gem stone charms to hang from them but they are impossible to keep clean. I thought the ring was doing ok. When I first got it I wore it on mid finger of left hand. Since then I've gotten some new rings and decided the DY would look nicer on ring finger, it came back from being sized looking like a gorgeous blingy hunk of diamonds. I don't understand why DY is so hard to keep clean. I know it's silver, but so is John Hardy and I don't have this problem. Do any of you have this problem? Does anybody have a secret for keeping DY clean? Very frustrated and wish I could return, but too late now. Also, I got the ring at Sak's so they sized from a 6 to a 4, they didn't return any silver with it. Should they have? I know it would have only been a teeny bit.

I don't have issue with my DY pieces. I clean it with the cloth and it's best to store in one of those anti-tarnish containers. I bet if you take it to the store you bought it from they'd shine it up nice for you. I had a silver ring sized but didn't get silver back. The only time I've gotten back material is when I had link removed or when changing settings.

Use Dial soap to wash your hands. It helps keep silver from tarnishing. Tiffany's recommends scrubbing your silver with a toothbrush of dial and water and then washing it off and drying it with a soft cloth followed by a silver polishing cloth.

I've never had a tarnishing problem with my Yurman pieces. Before I put them on, I usually run a polishing cloth over them, and that seems to keep the tarnish away. You might want to look for a silver safekeeper box in which to store your pieces. I've never used one, but I understand they do a great job of maintaining the original shine.

I have A LOT of Yurman and have never had that problem with tarnishing. When you are not wearing it you can't really just leave in out untouched for a while because it will tarnish that way. Put it away after you take it off and keep it in a sealed plastic zip lock bag. I also use Dial soap occasionally which I discovered when I washed my hands with it and my ring was incredibly shiny afterwards! When it needs a really good cleaning take it to the jewelers.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I do keep them in silver cloth pouches, but I def need to get Dial soap. I love that you always get great answers on the forum!

I didn't think that anyone else used Dial soap LOL but it really works and is easy! Try keeping them in small sealed ziplock bags inside the pouches, that is what I do.

I've never had a speck of tarnish on my DY pieces.

Recently, I purchased some silver cloth and line my bottom jewelry drawer with it.
If you do a search for Pacific silvercloth, it should show up for you.

ok -- I've looked at and bought lots of DY jewelry -- to the blogger who said regarding a DY ring that "the saleswoman had to bend it back to shape before handing it to me to try on" is unbelievable! DY rings are thick! I have NEVER seen a ring thin enough to bend -- furthermore, DY jewelry is ONLY sold in high end stores, i.e. neiman marcus, nordstrom, asks, etc., -- they sell high shelf jewelry, not thin pieces that bend out of shape! So, I am wondering where they saw this thin piece at -- probably a knock off.

I have noticed lately that some of their rings don't look as hand made as in the past -- a little more mass produced -- but, still high end and very nice!!!

The only thing I don't like about DY rings is that they are really very thick and can be uncomfortable.

I've noticed this too! I tried on some bracelets at Saks and they just didn't feel like they used to feel. The necklaces as well. The quality of my moms pieces are so much higher quality than they are now.

I think DY is a really good line of jewelry. I bought a bracelet and it had solid gold links and later I saw it become gold plated. So too bad. I would not believe it either that DY ring are easy to bend.

i have been a bit disappointed too because many of the DY rings are imported -- probably made in Thailand or India -- I think one piece I bought online had a tag showing that the piece was manufactured in another county. thus, the reason for a decrease in quality. I am pretty sure that the quality is not as pristine as several years ago -- it's really too bad because the silver and gold DY uses in their jewelry is beautiful. Quality has slowly changed over several years -- they think customers don't notice -- but we do.
